Here McEnroe talks about his other interests and his work, most notably his career as a tennis commentator and analyst for various networks for which he is widely and rightly regarded as one of the most articulate and respected television sports broadcasters in the world. People that want to read about McEnroe the tennis player will prefer the 1st book, but for those that want to read more about McEnroe the man and how he may have mellowed with age, this is the book that will deal with that.

The result is a richly personal account, blending anecdote and reflection in an inspirational reevaluation of what it means to be - and stay - successful. McEnroe has a big ego; he has never been shy about going after what he wants which is not necessarily a bad thing but there is something about that essentially American brashness.

se la concede a ogni match, per dare lo spettacolo che gli spettatori si aspettano da lui (buon tennis e intemperanze).

I tried to get them to come on my chat show John Partridge: Knowing Me, Knowing You, but they said they were a bit busy. Pps: Certo che gli anni d’oro del tennis e delle superpersonalità me li ricordo pure io, che sapevo chi erano Borg Mac Wilander e Lendl, mentre oggi non so neanche chi ci sia al primo posto. However, unlike the first book, “But Seriously” does not have any structure, theme or any concrete thoughts in which a reader can ponder. He does dwell on his inner feelings – he has never gotten over his loss to Ivan Lendl in the French Open Final – a Grand Slam event he never won. As gifted as he was as a tennis player, his on court tantrums will probably be remembered even more than his victories. We all love John's escapades in the BBC commentary box; he is a constant hit with us British viewers in the face of stagnant dullness perpetuated by the Beeb. John McEnroe's first autobiography Serious came out fifteen years ago, it was a really enjoyable and easy read, shedding a new light on tennis superstar.

He is pretty generous with his praise when he sees excellence or even effort and I admire his wide ranging interests.

Larry David lives on the floor beneath, so he must be doing well for himself as I am completely loaded. My grandma and I used to watch him play tennis together and she would always yell at the TV, “give him hell McEnroe! Even now, more than thirty years later, I'm as hot as I was in the fifth set and I can taste the red clay on my tongue.
