Cancellier says: “Use the low-speed adjuster (black knob on RCT3; main knob on RC) to adjust initial movement in the fork. Firstly because rear shocks and forks will naturally lose a little of their internal air pressure over time, so will need to be topped up. At just 84g, it’s one of the lightest shock pumps – something that became an obvious trade-off when inflating shocks from scratch. When the hose doesn't have a secure fit to the receptor, instead of spewing air, the air will collect in the pump hose and give an invalid psi reading. However, there is a small catch – you won’t be able to use manufacturer recommendations such as the pressures RockShox and FOX display on their forks, for example, or Cane Creek provide online with an inaccurate display.

The Shock Drive features a T-shaped ergonomic handle to ease the pressure on your palms when inflating high pressures. Road cycling is closest to me, but I also have a good grasp of other disciplines, such as mountain and gravel biking or commuting. On average, they require twice the number of strokes and so aren’t suitable for initial setup or more extensive tuning. Whether the label says FOX, RockShox, DT Swiss, Cane Creek or the like, it is often the same rebadged pump from the same factory in Asia.

RockShox High Pressure Digital shock pump review - BikeRadar

Credit subject to status, UK residents only, Performance Cycling Limited acts as a broker and offers finance from a restricted range of finance providers. Shocks have a low volume but run at very high pressures, and are extremely sensitive to minute changes in that internal pressure. RockShox shock pumps can be used on many types of air sprung forks and shocks as can Syncros and Topeak shock pumps. Air volume is actually really easy to change on RockShox forks (including the Pike Solo Air and Lyrik) by adding or subtracting Bottomless Tokens. Additionally, we recruited Brady Kappius to custom-build a high-accuracy inline gauge to ensure repeatable results in our testing.

Just because something is labeled high pressure, low volume it does not mean you get high pressure without multiple pumps. To the best of our knowledge, all other brands in the test field manufacture their own pumps or at least have exclusive models offered only by them. p>

Late or missing payments may have serious consequences for you and cause you serious money problems. Yet, if you use a floor pump with a threaded head ( Lezyne Steel Drive), there won’t be any air leaks.

They do take up very little space and stow away inconspicuously in your backpack though and one of these small models performed surprisingly well! It looks top quality and we found it a joy to use, pushing air in on a pretty much one-to-one ratio. I don’t recommend using a floor pump because air can leak, you can’t inflate high pressures, and you may even damage the suspension. I just started using a RockShox digital fork pump for the first time tonight and I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly. When I pump air into my tires using a Joe Blow bike pump, it takes many large strokes to get +20psi.Because it’s still quite compact, we found that it does take a while to inflate a tyre but is great for suspension setup since you can use the high-volume setting to initially boost a load of air into your fork, then the high-pressure setting to fine-tune it. A digital display offers accurate pressure readings and can switch between psi and Bar, and also has an on/off button to save power, though it will also auto-off after a period of inactivity. If you don’t unscrew the knurled control ring far enough before unscrewing the head, you will indeed lose some pressure. But Poertner pointed out that there are numerous moving parts that must also be very carefully constructed to produce precision – and that fixing these issues requires design and manufacturing processes with nonlinear cost/benefit relationships. That said, your shock will lose pressure when attaching your pump, as the pump’s chamber and hose need to fill to pressure.

Remember, all gauges, including digital, are subject to damage from shock, vibration and moisture, so keep your reference protected, clean, dry, and so on. The functionality, feel and quality of this pump is better than the other digital shock pumps listed here, but loses out a little to the Lifeline pump in terms of value for money. All pressure gauges are [also] sensitive to fatigue, even the digital ones which use the deflection of a small membrane to determine pressure. A fork tube has a much smaller capacity than a tire but the RS fork pump is a much smaller pump than the Joe Blow tire pump. The mechanical isn’t quite as accurate as a digital pump, but it has a bigger range being rated to 400 psi.
