Description

If you have read Saturday Requiem you know that Dean Reeves has left a grisly calling card for Frieda under her living room floor. Dean Reeves is a serial killer who has haunted Frieda's life for years as both a tormentor and a protector. Finally the police officially believe her about Reeves being alive and an all out search is launched for him.

For example, Frieda is talking to a client who has witnessed violence and wishes there was a drug to make him forget: I launched into Friday On My Mind, book five of the Freida Klein series by Nicci French, directly after finishing Thursday's Children. If you've been following my reading journey for 2 years or 2 minutes, you'll know that I am intensely drawn to any type of crime fiction procedural. Police procedural, legal drama, clinical psychologist; I can't get enough, but I especially love when I find one that balances the ongoing series plotting equally with the crime being solved in each installment of said series. This continuous story is one of the most excellent, in those regards, on the market today; I cannot stress enough what a pleasure it is to be lost in the case at hand while also immersing myself in the drama and chaos of the characters' personal lives. Obviously the plot in this particular segment immediately intrigued me; a body found in the flooring of our main, reoccurring character is no easy feat to write. No plot spoilers here, but it was nicely done and my mind is till trying to play catch up from all the whiplash induced twists and turns. But this is no ordinary killer, and every new victim is intended as a message to just one woman - psychologist Freida Klein. spoiler για την πλοκή και θα ήταν κρίμα. SUNDAY SILENCE will definitely appeal to psychological thriller fans and repeat readers of Nicci French’s books. A gritty heroine, a gruesome crime and a terrifying hunt for a psychotic killer, Tuesday's Gone is not to be missed by fans of psychological thrillers. Frieda’s personality does not lend itself well to this role and it becomes obvious to those who may be involved, what she is up to, which of course puts her in danger.

Frieda is one of my favorite book characters and this series is one I never get behind on. This installment is a testament to how far the series has progressed, how much the characters have evolved and how plots continue to improve with each chapter. Frieda is still as complicated and hard to read as she was in the beginning, but I certainly understand her much better now. The plot involves the beating, kidnapping, and one murder of individuals who are all are known to Klein and her own life is threatened. The culprit seems to be linked to a psychopathic killer who was also involved in past books which I haven't read and know nothing about. So you see my problem. His parents and the police are desperate. Can anyone help find their little boy before it is too late? The twists within the last few chapters left me thinking about it for hours after' 5***** READER REVIEW

But psychotherapist Frieda Klein is very much alive. And, after evidence linking her to the murder is discovered, she becomes the prime suspect. This is a very different setup, and I’m not sure I wish for Frieda to continue playing lead detective, but overall it turned out okay. The beginning and ending is strong enough to override much of what happened in the middle, but this is not the best book of the series, in my opinion.

Brilliance: The Bridge’s Saga Norén, played by Sofia Helin, is among the new wave of genre-redefining female TV detectives. Photograph: ZDF/BBC But, the thing about this story is how the characters we have come to know, suddenly changed, or were not in the picture at all and I kind of missed that element.

Books Like Nicci French’s Frieda Klein:

Sophisticated, compassionate, gripping . . . Not many books are as insightful as they are addictive; Nicci French's are' Sophie Hannah T he Fall explores notions of femaleness and sexual violence and it does so in a way that is powerfully unsettling and sometimes queasy-making. The camera lingers on its central character: her strongly beautiful profile and the full curve of her lips; her sleek hair, her gorgeous silk shirts (almost as iconic as Lund’s jumper), her shapely calves, the way she looks as she swims, as she undresses. She is itemised, fetishised, turned into a body, watched and assessed. It can feel that the way the serial killer watches his victims is eerily replicated by the way the camera watches Gibson. She complicates this by her own sexual behaviour; aloof, icy, sexually passionate without being warm, she uses men the way that men traditionally use women. She turns them into objects, the way that women are turned into objects by the male gaze or, at the other end of the spectrum, by the rapist. This is the fifth book in the Frieda Klein series and although it would work well as a stand alone novel, it is definitely enriched by prior knowledge of Frieda's character and friends. That she would go on the run from the police in a cool, calculated way, thinking that she can solve the murder herself is definitely within the bounds of her personality. Her friends, accumulated over the past four episodes, Josef, Sasha and DCI Karlsson, know her well and support her as much as she will allow. She is always in control of the situation with only occasional glimpses of her emotions breaking through, such as when she thinks about the good times with Sandy. In the shadows we also glimpse Dean Reeve, a killer from her past, believed to be dead by the police but very much alive to Frieda. The other thing I couldn’t wrap my brain around was the relationship with Frieda’s mother, and the way Frieda behaved to some recurring characters that just did not make sense, and how some characters underwent lobotomies. Seriously, they changed so completely, I couldn’t understand it.

Many themes are touched upon in “Blue Monday“. Professional ethics, guilt, nature vs. nurture, the merits of psychoanalysis, the damage caused by child abduction, human foibles, secrets, and more. I jumped into this series with this book, yes it’s the seventh book, but I have heard so many amazing things about it and I just know I’ll never have the time to start at the beginning so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to see what all the hype is about. Frieda's thinking keeps you gripped and adds twists that most people wouldn't imagine' 5***** READER REVIEW The case was chilling enough even with the first novel in Frieda Klein series. Plotting a story with an abducted child is something that will keep the emotion of the readers in peak; and with the “linkage” of the young girl who went missing 22 years ago draws us to even more emotion that makes us ask if is it the same abductor? What have been they been doing for the last 22 years? As hidden memories are being stirred with the little girl’s older sister; the darkest paths of a psychopaths mind are being chased to answer the whereabouts of Matthew Farraday. But, the story is not without merit. Although it drags in places, the way everything wrapped up in the end is unexpected, and left me feeling conflicted, and a little confused about Frieda’s future, and perhaps a little concerned as well. But, the ending was chilling and disturbing, and had me wanting to immediately dive into the fifth installment, which I hope to do very soon.Frieda Kline, a noted psychologist, now turned herself into a detective as well so she could find why Dean Reeve was after her and her family again.
