The Nike Metcon 7’s durability is pretty standard. The additional mid-foot rope guards add a nice layer of protection to this model and as a whole, these should last you a while. My only note is to pay attention to the forefoot grooves that have exposed midsole construction when doing lateral agility work. As previously stated, the Floatride Energy Foam provides brilliantly responsive cushioning, so these shoes are great for explosive jumping moves, plyometric exercises and hill sprints. You wouldn’t want to wear them for a marathon, but they’ll be great for a 5k. However, I found that the Nano X1 Vegan shoes measured up extremely well in comparison to the Regin 3, and they’re ideal if you’re looking for a hard-working gym shoe that takes an ‘apprentice of all things and master of none’ approach. The grip is phenomenal, and a lightweight heel clip cradles your foot to provide extra stability during fast multi-directional movements. In the Nike Metcon 7, you should be safe going true-to-size, but do keep in mind that this model fits slim. If you have to size up because you have a wide foot, then you may run into some heel slip issues. Whether you’re looking for a shoe to get you through a crossfit workout or a weightlifting session, the Reebok Nano are perfect trainers for getting active. These shoes are excellent for going to the gym, outdoor classes in the park, or weightlifting — they are created to be extremely durable and comfortable, making them ideal to wear for long periods of time.

The midfoot in the both the Nano X and Metcon 6 are dual density to give a softer forefoot and firmer rearfoot. The aim of this is to give some cushioning on a short run, and add stability under the heel with lifting weights. The Nano X claims to be more ‘runnable’ than ever, and I can vouch for that. The Metcon 6 has also seen significant improvements in performance when running since the previous iterations. Overall, those are the biggest and most prevalent construction callouts that relate to performance for the Reebok Nano X1. Reebok Nano X Vs Reebok Nano X1Quite frankly, the Nike shoe is probably tougher overall than the Nano X1. But that’s why it’s significantly heavier too. In contrast, the Nano X1 has something that can hardly be identified as a rope climbing supplement. There’s a small Ropepro label down on the side, and there’s sort of a tough area that looks like it would be good for getting a “pinch” grip on a rope. Here’s the RopePro area on the Nano X1. It’s quite minimal. For most of us, the weight savings is worth it. As mentioned I didn’t notice a huge difference when first trying the Nano X1 on, but when training in it I didn’t love the new heel drop. The main difference seems to be in the forefoot and this is where the shoe is let down.

Until now. “Wow, the Nano X1s are some of the most comfortable shoes I think I have ever been in,” Kate says. “They are great for literally any activity I do: running, jumping, squatting, walking the dog, coaching. I have not had one problem with these whatsoever.” This is where the tough outsole wraps up around the sides of the shoe at the midfoot. Why? For grip when climbing ropes – and to protect the upper from friction. When it comes to performance, what we’ve seen previously in training shoes is the search to find a happy medium, compromising between stability for lifting and cushioning on a run. If you want an all-round training shoe that offers support for every type of functional fitness workout and is sustainable to boot, you’ll love the Reebok Nano X1 Vegan. Just like the hugely popular Nano X1, it is responsive, fast, super-cushioned and lightweight and - save for a little reduction on breathability – its performance isn’t compromised by its use of plant-friendly materials.

So I had high hopes and expectations of the Nano X1 being my DREAM training shoe… but did the stars align and I get my wish? This is one area where the X1 stands out – at 12.1 ounces per shoe (US Men’s Size 11) it’s almost 2 ounces lighter than the Nike Metcon 6 (13.9 ounces). The Nano X1 is almost 2 ounces lighter per shoe, as compared to the Metcon 6. Lighter is better. Traditionally, Nano’s have leant hugely towards a wide, stable base, heavy lifting shoe. Any quite rightly, if you’re doing a lot of running, nothing beats a specialist running shoe.Additionally, I like the midsole and outsole in this model and how they blend together. The Floatride Energy Foam midsole is lightweight and the full rubber lug-pattern outsole provides adequate traction while also remaining lightweight. And that’s a point in favor of the Nike show – it’s modular to some degree and you get to choose what you want. Drop the Hyperlift into the shoe below the midsole and you’ll get an additional 8mm of heel to toe drop. Neat. The Nike Metcon 7’s reworked midsole with Nike React Foam gives this shoe an interesting blend of responsiveness and stability. The forefoot in this model is fairly easy to compress while the heel with the Hyperlift insert is much more stable. Factor in the mid-foot lateral and medial wraps and this model provides a variety of performance feelings. The Reebok Nano X1 also fits true-to-size and will be a better model for those that want a bit more toe box room and a deeper boot. Similarly though, if you get your sizing wrong in this model, then you may notice a little heel slip in the Nano X1. Reebok Nano X1 Vs Nike Metcon 7 Price If you’re squatting HEAVY we’d still recommend you go for a specific lifting shoe with a wooden sole and high heel to toe drop, but for 95% of athletes weightlifting in a gym, the Nano range will do the job.
