Description

This is the first NUC we have reviewed that contains Intel’s new 2.5GbE NIC. The NIC performed as expected, and since its price is comparable to the 1GbE NIC, we expect we see more and more systems with 2.5GbE NICs on them in the future. The CPU has integrated Intel Xe Graphics operating at 300 MHz with a burst frequency of 1.35 GHz. The GPU has 96 Execution Units (EUs) and can support two 4K displays, or one 8K display, at 60Hz. This is the second unit we have reviewed that had a CPU containing an Xe iGPU. The TPD and RAM are shared between the CPU and GPU.

These use the 11 th Gen Intel Core G series 10nm processors. TDP Maximum is 28W, so these are midway between a full desktop and a low power use notebook processor. Noise varies from a whisper to about 35dB, but we heard it go louder on 100% load to around 50dB. Power use is quite good. Under load, it reached 400W, but most of the time, it was about half that. In cost terms, less than 20 cents an hour. The latest Intel i7-11375H (desktop) has a 5GHz Turbo. This only runs in larger form factor desktops and is an average 14% faster. The real difference no TDP constraint and 37% faster at maximum speed. Graphics – 30% faster than Intel UHD Capture cards are used extensively by gamers to stream their play, as well as by home office workers, content creators, and other users who need to capture and either store or stream the output of a monitor. We at StorageReview.com use video capture cards to take screen captures when doing installs if we don’t have the ability to generate a screen capture using the installed software.Indicates whether MUID is transferred to ANID, a cookie used for advertising. Clarity doesn't use ANID and so this is always set to 0. System and Maximum TDP is based on worst case scenarios. Actual TDP may be lower if not all I/Os for chipsets are used.

NUCs come in a variety of form factors and are used for many purposes, such as home theaters or home labs. But they are not just for home users; enterprises have been using NUCs for such diverse purposes as graphic workstations, edge devices, VDI clients, and nodes for hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). We have also previously configured and reviewed NUCs for different use cases, ranging from using a relatively low-powered NUC7CJYS to run IGEL Workspace to running ESXi on a NUC 9 Pro. Invariably, Intel’s new NUC 11 Pro will be compared to its predecessor the NUC 10 Pro, as these NUCs were designed for similar use cases. Below is a comparison of the key hardware components of these two systems as well as a NUC 8, NUC 9 Pro, and NUC 10 CE that we previously reviewed. FeatureThe results from our tests indicate that the NUC 11 Pro had a slower speed than the NUC 9 Pro and NUC 10 Pro system and was on par with NUC 8 system. The NUC 9 Pro system with its 8 core Xeon processor E-2286M and discreet GPU performed approximately twice as fast as the NUC 11 Pro. The NUC and the iBuypower were close on our Handbrake test, in which we transcode a 4K video to 1080p. Intel's desktop took 6 minutes and 28 seconds, just ahead of the iBuypower. The Corsair One a200, with a more powerful GPU and more cores, tore through the test in 4:44. Software and Warranty on the Intel NUC 11 Extreme Kit (Beast Canyon) To use the capture card, you plug an HDMI cord from a device (e.g., PC, server, gaming console, etc.) and then use another cord from the output of the capture card to the monitor. You can then use software to view, capture, or stream the video as it transfers from the device to the monitor; we used OBS Studio, but any software that supports capture cards should work with it as well.

The bottom of the case is attached by four captive Phillips-head screws. By removing these screws, you will expose a well-constructed motherboard. It supports auto-negotiation for 5, 7.5 and 15W. This covers Qi earbuds, watches, iPhone, and Samsung (15W). We tested with s Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and it charges at 15W. Processor We also recently did a podcast with Kristin Brown of Intel specifically on the topic of NUCs ( located here) that you may enjoy listening to.

We ran the SPECviewperf 12 benchmark on the NUC 11 Pro. The SPECviewperf 12, considered to be the worldwide standard for measuring graphics performance based on professional applications, runs 9 benchmarks called viewsets, which represent graphics content and behavior from actual applications, and include categories such as 3D Max, CATIA, Creo, Energy, Maya, Medical, Showcase, Siemens NX, and Solidworks.
