Application: Apply onto wet skin and gently massage with fingertips onto the areas of concern. Rinse and pat dry. A body scrub with chemical and physical exfoliators that sweep away dry, rough bumps to reveal healthier looking skin that feels exceptionally smooth. I waited to write this review until after 1.5 months of using the product. I have KP and nothing has worked before as well as First Aid Beauty!! I have tried lactic lotions, prescription lotions, and cortisone. Sadly none of these were very effective and some even made the KP worse. I included two photos one before and one after 1.5 months. I finally am not embarrassed to show off my arms!!

Glycolic & Lactic Acids: Alpha hydroxy acids that exfoliate skin and help it appear brighter and improve texture. During the middle of the week when I’m not using the KP Eraser, I like to use a gentler body exfoliator scrub. I don’t have a go to product, I pretty much just use what’s in my shower. This is a step that I only do once a week. The First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub 10% AHA contains the following ingredients: Pumice, Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Lactic Acid, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Hydroxide, Palmitic Acid, Glycerin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Sorbitol, Colloidal Oatmeal, Tocopherol, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Bisabolol, Hydrogenated Coconut Acid, Xanthan Gum, Steareth-20, Steareth-21, Myristic Acid, Sodium Isethionate, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, EDTA. The First Aid Beauty KP Eraser is more hybrid body scrub as it is formulated with 10% AHA (Glycolic and Lactic Acid), Pumice buffing beads and Bisabolol, which is known for its skin healing properties. The texture of the scrub feels extremely grainy and a little coarse. Even with that being said, I didn’t find the scrub to be too harsh on the skin. The directions call for the scrub to be used 1-2x a week. I typically use it twice a week and haven’t noticed any sensitivity to my skin while doing so. The KP Eraser has to be one of the best scrubs that I ever tried. This is a product that I plan to continuing purchasing. If that sounds drying, no sweat: Sunflower seed oil helps replenish moisture and support the skin barrier.)

As previously mentioned, I use this on body several times a week. Sometimes I use it after using the First Aid Beauty KP Eraser. Vitamin E: A vitamin rich in antioxidants that helps condition and soothe skin and stave off environmental aggressors. Sunscreen- SPF is important overall, but even more important when using direct actives/acid in your routine.

The first product chemical exfoliant that I tried in my journey was the REN AHA Body Serum. I found the serum to be a nice starter product, but I found that I ultimately needed something more potent. I went from using this a few days a week to every-other, but I noticed the results were very mild with this serum. The Skinfix Body Cream (left in the image above) is described as a hydrating body cream that gently exfoliates, smooths and softens rough and bumpy skin. The moisturizer is formulated with 5% natural AHA and lime extract. I found the cream to be super moisturizing and great to use during the winter months. A little of this product went a long way and the jar lasted me for a very long time. As for the results, I found that this cream did very little to actually help with the effects of my KP. Editor Tip: While the Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion is a staple, Mamina Turegano, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in Louisiana, also recommends the Rapid Relief Restoring Lotion, which pairs 15% exfoliating lactic acid with three types of ceramides to intensely hydrate skin. Why It's Worth It:"Because people with KP have a genetic tendency toward allergies and skin sensitivity, it is important to be mindful of products with fragrances, which can be irritating," Texas-based board-certified dermatologist Heidi Prather, MD, of Westlake Dermatology, says. This First Aid Beauty scrub is a fragrance-free formula that's unlikely to irritate sensitive skin types, and it offers both chemical (lactic and glycolic acid) exfoliation and physical exfoliation to buff away dead skin cells and smooth skin texture. Ingredients: Pumice, Water, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Lactic Acid, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Hydroxide, Palmitic Acid, Glycerin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Sorbitol, Colloidal Oatmeal, Tocopherol, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Bisabolol, Hydrogenated Coconut Acid, Xanthan Gum, Steareth-20, Steareth-21, Myristic Acid, Sodium Isethionate, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, EDTA. Chicago-based board-certified dermatologist Caroline Robinson, MD, is also a fan of the Exfoliating Body Wash, in particular. Its "8.8 free acid value of glycolic acid is mild enough for sensitive skin but effective enough for dry, rough, bumpy, or flaky skin on the body," she says of the body polish, which can be used to treat dry or scaly feet and legs — as well as the rest of the body. In addition to recommending this wash for KP, Dr. Robinson says the brightening formula also helps reduce hyperpigmentation, too.

Why It's Worth It: Dermadoctor's KP Duty line was one of the first skin-care collections to specifically call out keratosis pilaris as its target, and it's still a staple. Dr. Turegano refers to the surprisingly lightweight lotion, in particular, as a derm staple. Key ingredients include a patented blend of AHAs, BHA, and PHAs, urea, and green tea — and that's just the top of the list. To replenish and protect your dry, bumpy skin, ingredients like eight ceramides and squalane come to the rescue to provide hours of moisture. Not only does this stuff work almost immediately- my legs were smooth, bright, and everything was so flat - no KP bumps or little red ingrowns, but I have found that it’s reducing the appearance of my stretch marks as well!Exfoliating- Several times a week by the usage of physical and chemical exfoliation. I typically use alternate between the First Aid Beauty KP Eraser (10% AHA) and The Ordinary Glycolic Toning Solution (7% AHA). Just be careful not to use too many exfoliating products at once. If you’re using a mixture of the two, you will not need any other acid based exfoliators in your routine. Pumice, Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Lactic Acid, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Hydroxide, Palmitic Acid, Glycerin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Sorbitol, Colloidal Oatmeal, Tocopherol, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Bisabolol, Hydrogenated Coconut Acid, Xanthan Gum, Steareth-20, As KP can look similar to acne, the approach to reducing it is similar to that of acne. "Treatment of KP responds best to a combination of exfoliation and hydration," Dr. Prather explains.
