Asexual: This section is rather short, as the more niche or new the term, the harder it is to find in Welsh. There is, however, one other source for the sexuality term asexual in Welsh. Further to the point just outlined, by 2008, the term asexual was known to mean the sexuality and not related in any way to intersex concepts in Welsh. The medical journal from 1986 is the earliest known usage of ‘anrhywiol’ as a human sexuality term in Welsh, but it also appears in the 1992 edition of the Hippocrene Standard Dictionary – Welsh-English English-Welsh by H. This is a bank of terms used by Welsh Government translators in their everyday work. It is continually updated with a view to providing an increasingly comprehensive database of terminology which is standardised and which reflects current usage in the various fields of the Government’s operation. It also includes the names of Welsh Government initiatives and programmes, and the titles of many documents published by the Welsh Government and other bodies. It is published on the internet as a useful tool for bilingual working beyond the translation profession. Decide whether the form you have entered constitutes a whole word, the beginning of a word, part of a word or the end of a word. By default the dictionary expects you to enter a Welsh word and to search for the English equivalent. If you are entering an English word then you need to change the first box labeled "Translate from" to "English-Welsh". The dictionary will then search for the Welsh equivalent.

Final -t disappeared from the 3pl. of all tenses and conjugated prepositions at an early date and the auxiliary pronouns hwy, hwythau developed as nhw, nhwythau. Final -t never occurs in natural speech; the inclusion of final -t is a characteristic of standard literary Welsh. Following on from my first blog The Case of the 450 year-old Word: A Queer Welsh slur throughout the centuries (in which I dove into the history of the terminology used for gay men in Welsh), this blog is a short history of the lesbian, bisexual, trans and intersex terminology used in Welsh in the last two centuries.
