The Pioneer DDJ Comparison chart you see below has over twenty different attribute comparisons. This may be something as simple and straightforward as the overall dimensions or what software they work with. What we have also included in the comparison are some of the features which may break or seal your fate with your next Pioneer DDJ controller. Features like jog wheel and pitch fader sizes. Why are they important? Some DJs want a larger jog wheel to replicate the club standard Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2, which has the largest type jogwheel Pioneer make (apart from the vinyl brothers: PLX-1000 and PLX-500) so this feature is an important comparison point. Equally some DJs may prefer a smaller jog wheel as the pad style may be more important to them. Another feature we have included within our Pioneer DDJ Comparison chart is whether or not the controller can be bus powered. If you’re running light on power (or completely mobile, on a beach or festival for example) you’d certainly prefer a controller that can be USB powered, without the need of a wall-wart power supply. Another feature asked by many is product weight; especially for DJ’s who travel, or need to factor in a flight case weight before making their decision. The Pioneer DDJ Comparison chart you have always wanted. You’re Welcome The effect is great fun but just like the controller itself, will only introduce you to the art of scratch DJ’ing. It’s a great place to start and gives you something to copy and work upon as your skills develop. The Pioneer DDJ SB3 provides some great improvements over the previous generation whilst retaining its entry-level feel. The capacitive jog wheels remain on the smaller side, as do the pitch faders. Both however are responsive and work great in this form factor, especially now the faders are a-symmetric, a downside of the older SB2’s design. One great improvement is the inclusion of dedicated cue and play buttons. Long gone are the days of sharing the rubber performance pads, well done Pioneer here! Speaking of the performance pads, we still retain 8 pads for use with hot cues, the new FX fades, the sampler and of course those controversial Pad Scratch modes. The DDJ SB3 improves on the SB2 in more ways than you might think. Everything from the layout to the design is better. The buttons are developed, and everything feels a lot more professional and grown-up – even if you do only get basic software.

Pioneer DDJ-SB3 is a very decent option if you want an entry-level DJ Controller just to test out your skills and enhance them. With its Aluminum Jog Wheels, FX Fade, Pad Scratch, Performance Pads, Independent Auto Loop and Play and cue buttons, and a well-thought-out and instinctual prototype, it can be a pretty good investment. The DDJ-SB3 features straightforward audio connections. Headphones connect to the front of the controller using a smaller 1/8th TRS connection. Speakers connect to the two RCA line-level outputs on the rear, labelled master. These are colour coded with the red connection for the right speaker and white being for the left. This allows for an affordable entry point for anyone with a passion for music. The Pioneer DDJ range makes it easy to slide into this new lifestyle.

Overall, if you are a novice who wants to learn some new techniques and practice your DJing skills, Pioneer DDJ-SB3 DJ Controller is an excellent option. Weighing only 2.1 kg, the device is perfect for people who are always on the go. Furthermore, it has an onboard sound card, which makes it a convenient product. When it comes to the output of the audio, it has crisp, crystal-clear audio without any distortion. Finally, the TRS microphone input with dedicated volume control is found on the rear of the controller. It is worth noting that the microphones audio is not sent to the computer over USB, meaning you won’t hear it in recordings or streams. The pads are where you access Hot Cues, FX Fade, Pad Scratch (aka “the “Jazzy Jeff button”), Sampler and Transformer (“Trans”). While the sampler is a stripped down simple sample triggering affair (four slots), the same with the Hot Cues (the other “slots” in both of these settings being used for some additional transport controls including Censor), the remaining three functions are a bit more fun. This neat little feature isn’t there for advanced DJs. Instead, it lets you play around with some great scratch patterns when you’re getting used to a new style of music creation.

For a beginner controller, the DDJ-SB3 is there to give you everything you need to inspire and motivate yourself into creating amazing new music.

There are two effects engines, each containing three effects. While the effects available in Lite are limited, they cover the basics. Once nice feature is that they are post fader; this hasn’t always the case with budget controllers. I agree with him: It’s a great feature for a beginner controller. It would have been nice to have Slip mode to work with this scratch mode, but I guess you can’t have everything! Additionally, it’s worth noting that the effects are now post-fader so that you can pull the fader from the mix and the effects continue. New Features Transport, Jogs, and Pitch ControlsThe 2-channel DJ Controller has an intuitive, sturdy design. Though, it has a plastic outer frame and can make the unit feel like a substandard product. But that does not mean it does not give you the utmost best sound quality that it can.

If you hold down shift and move the faders up, this will start a fader start experience that’s great for a lot of mobile DJs. Your utility settings dictate whether the sync is on or off. Effects and Performance pads However, it’s worth remembering that the Pioneer DJ DDJ SB3 is a beginner’s DJ controller – an excellent beginner’s controller. Pioneer has upgraded one of their renowned Serato DJ Controllers by creating one with 2-Channels which is called the Pioneer’s DDJ SB3 which is designed exclusively for use with Serato DJ Lite, which was initially known as the Serato DJ Intro.Set-up is one of the most important things to consider when choosing a DJ controller. The DDJ SB3 DJ controller aims for the same clean simplicity as the DDJ-SB2. The 2 channel mixer features a crossfader alongside total kill 3 band EQ, trim knob and a dedicated high/low pass effects filter for each channel. Inputs and Outputs
