And to everyone's delight, it looks as if Hamish will have to remain a frog because Mr Majeika can't remember the spell to turn him back again! Incidents such as ghostly sounds, vanishing people through walls and doors followed by strange lights ignite the sense of mystery and adventure evident in this book. All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you! All of the characters are unique in their own way: Melanie always cries, Pandora Green and Hamish are bullies and Thomas and Pete are just normal children and so is Jody.

As well as the Mr Majeika titles, his children's books also included Shakespeare Without the Boring Bits and More Shakespeare Without the Boring Bits. He loved the magic in a school setting, and what Mr Majeika's class had to do to help their teacher put right some spells he needed help reversing. Majeika is an irrepressible wizard sent to "Britland" from the planet Walpurgis because he failed his O-level sorcery exam for the seventeenth time. Mr Majeika, the School Trip,Mr Majeika and the Lost Spell Book, the Ghost Train, the Dinner Lady, the School Caretaker, the Music Teacher, the Haunted Hotel, the School Book Week, the Internet,.He then proceeds to turn the class nuisance, Hamish Bigmore, into a frog and conveniently forgets what the reversing spell is. This was a very light-hearted book to read, I would recommend this for KS1 as the story line, although nicely written is very simple in content. Children will delight in these little moments and the glimpses of magic this amiable teacher offers us. The pupils in Class 3 at St Barty's School are not impressed when their headteacher imposes strict rules of behaviour for Halloween.

At some point in our childhoods, many of us would have wished that we could do magic so that we could fly or make things disappear and reappear again. It's short but with lots of chapters, it takes the reader through several incidents in a school year. Both of these characters are also in the books, but Melanie is a much less important and very different type of character in the books, and is replaced by another character as female lead, Jody. I liked it when the children flew up with the magic potion and when Hamish Bigmore made a cup of tea for Mr Majeika with a magic potion but Mr Potter drank it. Majeika enters into his magic with reluctance, however, because he is trying hard to behave himself on Earth, and because the Worshipful Wizard of Walpurgis is keeping an eye on him from above.
