Hemingway, Seán. “ Ancient Greek Colonization and Trade and their Influence on Greek Art.” (July 2007)

Great for creating a relaxed mood. We’re finding that having a water feature indoors is really relaxing; the gently flowing water is very calming to look at and listen to. Cordless and cable-free for a beautiful display; no extraneous pieces, panels, electric cords, etc. A water feature can look stunning and also be beneficial to local wildlife, but there’s no denying the fact that installing one usually requires a fair amount of effort. Traditional water features – even small ones – rely on a power supply or solar panel to operate, plus they need plumbing into a water supply. The Hydria Smart Fountain Kit transforms your favorite water-tight pot into a beautiful and soothing fountain. Now you can enjoy the sights and sounds of moving water in a fountain of your own creation!

FAQ's

You can use hydria indoors, outdoors, or a mix of both. If you use a lightweight pot it’s easy to move it around, so you can enjoy it in different locations. I’ve set mine up in our open plan living area at the moment. Easy setup. It took me about half an hour to create my water feature, and the vast majority of this time was filling the pot with sand and arranging the stones on the top. There really is very little in the way of component setup. This all-in-one water fountain kit fits in most 12" dia. or larger pots or planters and is totally customizable. Make your fountain a creative work of art using a variety of stones, tiles, decorative glass, plants and other unique accents. The possibilities are endless! You can use whatever you want to decorate the top of your water feature; glass beads, mosaic tiles, and decorative stones all work well. Operating Hydria

Do you like the idea of adding a water feature to your home, but worry that doing so will involve lots of hassle? In Hellenistic times, during the third and first half of the second centuries B.C., a new regional type of hydria developed, known as the Hadra hydria (water jar used as a cinerary urn). These vessels take their name from the Hadra cemetery of Alexandria, Egypt, where many examples were first discovered in the late nineteenth century. However, scientific analysis and research have revealed that the Hadra hydriai were made in western Crete, and exported to Egypt. They were also used for burials on Crete and have been excavated in tombs at Phaistos. Diehl, Erika. Die Hydria: Formgeschichte und Verwendung im Kult des Altertums. Mainz am Rhein: P. von Zabern, 1964.Choose a watertight container, add the kit and customize the options for fountain height, timer and lights colors The hydria fountain is powered by a rechargeable battery located within the unit. State of the art battery and power management technology are used to deliver an impressive runtime of up to two months on a single charge. Bronze hydriai ( 06.1078; 44.11.9) consist of a body, which was hammered, and a foot and handles, which were cast and decorated with figural and floral motifs. Sometimes the moldings and other decorative elements of the foot, handles, and rim were embellished with silver inlay. The green patina evident on many Greek bronze hydriai is a result of corrosion over the centuries. Originally, these vessels had a gold, copper, or brown tint, depending on the particular bronze alloy that was used. The cast vertical handles could be particularly elaborate, taking the form of human figures and powerful animals. Images of deities and other mythological figures appear on some of the more ornate vases of the Classical period. A particularly popular type of bronze hydria features a siren at the base of the vessel’s vertical handle. Kit includes water basin, display plate, pump, cascade fountain head, sprinkler fountain head and remote The water fountain kit comes in a sleek gift box, and inside you’ll find everything you need to set up, charge and maintain your fountain. Along with this and the beautiful Capi Ball planter, you’ll be able to choose from the Mindfulness Pebbles or the Christmas Snowman to transform the look of your fountain in seconds. Use it indoors or outdoors depending on the season, your mood, and your available space! With Hydria™, you don’t need a garden to enjoy a water feature!

Like many Greek vases, the hydria typically had a lid that is seldom preserved. This cover could be quite tall and taper to a point. When a hydria was used as an urn, the lid might be made of another material, such as lead, that was simply flattened over the rim of the vessel. Plaster was also used to seal the cremated remains. At other times, the lid was made of the same material as the rest of the vase. This cordless, battery-powered remote-controlled water feature will run for an incredible two months before it needs recharging, and you can redesign the feature as often and easily as you wish. There’s no better gift for your special someone this festive season! I like the fact that you can play around with the settings so easily; it allows you to change the mood and impact of the water fountain instantly whenever you feel like a change.

Beautifully styled and totally self-contained: cordless and rechargeable with remote control; timer function; red, green and blue LED light color choices; multiple nozzles and fun accessories; silent pump. Like its terracotta counterpart, the kalpis became the most popular form of bronze hydria in the fifth century B.C. These metal vessels were used not only for water but also as cinerary urns, ballot boxes, votive offerings, and as prizes for competitions held at Greek sanctuaries ( 26.50). The occasional inscription on a rim describes their use as an offering to a god or as a prize for an athletic or music competition. Many well-preserved examples of these bronze vessels have been found in tombs. Low cost to run. The smart remote and timer control allows you to save energy by maximising each battery charge. A single charge gives you two months of use if you select the two-hour daily timer. I’m impressed with this little kit. It may be a simple product to setup and run, but there’s a wealth of clever technology and features that make it a really innovative and modern fountain kit. The team behind the product have taken all of the hassle out of the setup and running, and created a truly flexible water feature that can even be used by households who don’t have any outdoor space. Before you setup hydria you need to fully charge the battery, this takes about eight hours. Once the battery is charged, setup is very straightforward.
