Ignoring the small tidal beaches of the Thames and Thorney Bay on Canvey Island (because it takes longer to reach by public transport), the closest beach to London for most residents is Southend-on-Sea, in Essex. The beach itself is extremely beautiful, you have the delta behind you, a lot of wild life (especially birds) nearby, but also golden sands and a perfect sea. Britain is brimming with beautiful beach destinations. Bring the coast even closer and choose your own beachside holiday home. Many of our holiday parks offer direct beach access, so a stunning shoreline will always be nearby. From hidden coves in Cornwall to sweeping stretches of Scottish sand, you're bound to find a coastal park that's your perfect fit. Thomas Beach – best for secluded beach walks & sunbaking This secluded strip of white sand at Thomas Beach is well worth descending down the cliff for Dreamland Beach was aptly named by the Aussies, and is now known as the new Kuta Beach, despite its location in Uluwatu, far away from the Kuta crowds. Dreamland was once a hidden gem, but due to its bright white beach and popular waves, surfers from around the world come to visit this white sandy bay. Build sand castles, sunbathe, or get amidst the aquatic action – Dreamland is your wonderland!
