In the first Pop Idol series, Will Young won and Gareth Gates was second. In the second, and final, series Michelle McManus won. And as another Chinese proverb says, 'If you've been in a double act with your best mate for thirty years, why not write a book about all your most memorable moments in three decades of showbusiness?' Dec: and as another Chinese proverb says, 'If you've been in a double act with your best mate for 30 years, why not write a book about all your most memorable moments in three decades of showbusiness?' Ant and Dec came together to create a new show about their ancestors and to find out where they both came from. The programme was made over two years and Ant and Dec journeyed to places such as Ireland and United States of America. The most amazing part of their DNA journey was that they actually found out that they were in fact distant relations of each other!

Listening to Once Upon A Tyne makes you feel the lads are really just chatting to you and you only, telling you about their life and times of grown up together in the entertainment industry, I think mainly because they are not just read their book they actually speak off the cuff, elaborating on the story they are telling at the time, with Ant’s comedy timing and Dec’s hearty laugh, this audiobook brought me laugh out loud moments and tears to my eyes with heart felt emotional words between them both. Byker Grove was based in a youth club in Newcastle and teenagers and young adults went there to hang out with each other.PJ and Duncan had other chart hits including ‘U Krazy Katz’ and ‘Stepping Stone’ among others. However, a few years later they changed musical direction. In 1997 they changed their duo name from ‘PJ and Duncan‘ to ‘Ant and Dec’, which are their real names. As ‘Ant and Dec’ they had a few more songs out like ‘Shout’, but it was a short lived career move. After 3 albums they decided enough was enough as they didn’t enjoy the popstar experience and they couldn’t write songs. Ant and Dec agreed to quit their popstar life.

My favorite part was when they confronted Simon Cowell about how unhappy they were at one point doing Britain’s Got Talent and I very much agreed with their thoughts, and glad SC felt the same and did something to change it, just shows how good these two that SC is willing to change something in the show so he won't lose them. Using their Byker Grove character names, Ant and Dec became PJ and Duncan — the popstars. They were approached to ask to sing and become popstars by Telstar. In this chapter Ant and Dec talk about meeting various members of the British Royal Family at various moments in their career, and particularly HRH Prince Charles. Ant and Dec first met HRH Prince Charles in 2001, where they interviewed him about the 25th anniversary of ‘The Prince’s Trust’. Other memorable times Ant and Dec have met members of the British Royal Family are in 2006, 2015 (for The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations), and in 2017 (when Ant and Dec received their OBEs). I wouldn't mind so much it there weren't chapters devoted to vague themes such as awards ceremonies and the royals so it's not like they didn't have the space. I found Ant and Dec’s autobiography called ‘Ant and Dec — Once Upon A Tyne — Our Story Celebrating 30 Years Together On Telly’ a really good read. I’ve effectively ‘grown up’ with Ant and Dec, from watching them act on TV in their ‘Byker Grove’ days, through to their TV presenting on various shows to this day. I recommend this book as it tells about the unique story of a couple of lads from Newcastle, UK who became best friends and business partners, and about their unique friendship.Don't get me wrong, it's mildly entertaining but you won't learn much - it's like an evening with Ant and Dec, where they wheel out plenty of tried and true anecdotes you probably have heard before if you're a longtime fan - especially if you read their 2009 autobiography. In 2012 Ant and Dec performed with Sir Bruce Forsyth at the NTAs (the National Television Awards in the UK). Both Ant and Dec were in awe of Sir Bruce Forsyth and dancing on stage with Sir Bruce Forsyth was one today the many highlights of Ant and Dec’s career in the last 30 years. Please know, this rating gives me no pleasure. I'm an Ant and Dec fan through and through, and I believe that they are peerless in their field. That field is not writing an enlightening book regarding their 30 Years in TV.

Ant and Dec’s most famous song as PJ and Duncan was ‘Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble!’ which reached the number 9 in the UK music charts in July 1994. Little did they know at the time that 19 years later they were going to have a number 1 UK music chart hit with the same song! All of Ant and Dec’s author proceeds from the book will be donated to the NSPCC to support their lifechanging work protecting children. In December 2001 Ant and Dec decided to leave ‘SMTV: Live’ and ‘CD:UK’ for pastures new — Saturday Night TV. Ant and Dec are two lads from Newcastle, UK. They became friends while starring on a children’s TV evening programme called ‘Byker Grove’, and came to hold many ‘hats’, including as popstars and TV presenters of some of the most popular UK programmes. It didn't disappoint. It was so fun I stayed on my bed the whole day to focus on listening/reading. I could've finished it earlier but I have to stop a lot of times and watch the clips they're talking about, and sometimes, I have to watch it like 2-3 times because it's that good.

Check out Ant and Dec's complete career timeline:

Ant and Dec came together again with Simon Cowell, who wanted them to present another TV talent show for ITV. This time the talent would be of various acts — from magicians, to singers, to choirs to comedians, and other types of variety acts — that Britain, and the world, had to offer. ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ was created in 2007 and has been on TV in the UK every year since. Some acts come from other parts of the world just to go onto the UK version, rather than their own country’s version! It is interesting to hear how they both have developed and changed individually over the years. But despite the success, they remain humble and I think that's what made me admire them more. In 2002, Ant and Dec devised a Saturday night television show that would have features like ‘Win the Ads’, ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Outa Me Ear!’ and ‘Little Ant and Dec’, who interviewed celebrities. The show first ran from 2002 to 2009, when Ant and Dec thought they would ‘rest’ the show and do other things. No I'm not obsessed. It's fascinating. I mean, the bond, the love for each other, the friendship, it's unlike any other. Then I'll ask myself which one I like best, because I'll watch a clip and I'll find Dec so adorable but then the next one, Ant's puns will be so hilarious, I'll have to ask myself again.
