I am really happy that they are keeping the Nord coil compatibility. That really is a good thing for MTL users… but are they necessary on this pod? I mean if you like any type of draw restriction, you’re going to be let down.My conclusion is this coil performs better in this kit having the adjustable airflow – but is slightly lower on flavour and throat hit than some more modern pod coils. 64%VG E-liquid For an optimal vaping experience, Smok recommend using high PG e-liquids with the RPM coil and choosing one with a VG content over 70% for the RPM 2 coil for an enhanced sub-ohm vape hit. When talking about the Nord Pod, if we are using Nic Salt E-Liquid, a mentioned previously, we recommend the Nord 0.8 ohm Mesh MTL Coils l, and if we are on purebase nicotine e-liquid, we definitely recommend to go for the Nord 1.4 regular or ceramic. The main difference between the two, is that the ceramic is really silent, and gives a smoother hit compared to the regular, which will get hotter than the ceramic and uses slightly more juice. When installing the tank section onto the mod you do have to also push down to overcome the spring on the connector before the tank threads will engage. I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I couldn’t taste anything at all, I turned the airflow all the way down to off and then there was a very slight hint of flavour, but nothing notable.There is a fire button for turning the device on and off and also to press to fire when vaping. The fire button has an LED indicator in the surround to display fault conditions and the battery charge status.

The performance of the Smok Nord 4 did not disappoint. It can be used with the RPM Smok Nord 4 coil for MTL vaping or the Nord 4 RPM 2 coil if sub-ohm is your thing. The coils come pre-installed in the appropriate pod which just need filling with e-liquid and inserting (see later for which e-liquid to select for each coil). I have used this coil with 80%VG in the past on the original Nord kit – and it performed fine. However in the N18 kit it was quite a dry vape at 25W.

So my advice is to use some kind of prong and pull them out as once you have done this the kit is mega simple to use.

For me my ideal setting was with 2 holes uncovered – leaving plenty of movement for going tighter or looser airflow. Apart from these slight niggles which did sadly lower some of the review scores this has been a solid kit, feels really well made and apart from the filling is super easy to use. Then when getting into the RPM Pod, here we will find more options, but the best in delivering both flavour and cloud production, is the RPM 0.4 ohm Mesh Coils , which is also included in all the devices box. If you tried it and wanted to see all options, then you should go for the Triple 0.6 ohm Coils . I can feel the pattern texture when scraping my nail against it but it doesn’t seem to scratch or lift off so must be a kind of etching into the metal?
