Recording what became Far From Saints' self-titled debut - which is released on Friday - only took nine days. The pandemic, however, meant its release would have to wait. Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band Add 22 European Stadium Shows to 2024 World Tour. Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band delivered “The Greatest Show on Earth” (Billboard) across Europe this past summer, […] Quite a few decades ago, Fleetwood Mac proved that coming up with sophisticated pop is a specific art in itself where the artist(s) has to abide by the strict rules and formulas of a pop song while at the same time including elements that both abide by and neglect these formulas and limitations, while still coming up with something the audiences will love. So it's not like that at the end or anything like that. It's just a continuation of different types of music!".

Stereophonics star Kelly Jones has today unveiled his new band Far From Saints, featuring Austin’s Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker (aka The Wind and the Wave). Opening with a gentle acoustic riff from Dwight Baker, ‘Screaming Hallelujah’ begins with soulful, bittersweet call-and-response vocals from Patty Lynn and Kelly Jones before their harmonies intertwine with an audibly organic bond on the song’s soaring, dramatic hook. As the two singers explain, ‘Screaming Hallelujah’ offers a message of acceptance and grace towards a loved one who is experiencing a difficult period of transition. The song was written and produced by Far From Saints and then mixed by the Grammy-nominated Al Clay (Blur, Pixies).Kelly recalls, “Patty wrote the whole ‘Take It Through The Night’ lyric herself. I had a tiny part of a blues riff and Dwight ran away with it and turned the chorus into a bit of an Eagles and Joe Walsh vibe. We were just in full-on guitar mode. We were trying to make an Allman Brothers record with that one.” Benitez-Eves, Tina (20 June 2023). "Far From Saints Summon Combined Musical Spirits on Debut Album". American Songwriter . Retrieved 20 June 2023. As Patty says, “It’s an album and it’s meant to be listened to from start to finish. That’s what I’d like for people to do. Listen to the whole thing and see it as a complete work on its own.”

The band presented a new creative opportunity for the Stereophonics frontman, collaborating on songwriting and sharing vocal duties. How does one become qualified to write a fictional music novel? For Kelly Jones, the answer is simple. Form another band, explore new genres, and have a great time doing it. On their self-titled album, Far From Saints are a trio that definitely abide by such a view of pop music, without really trying to sound like anybody else in particular. At the same time, they are including all the familiar elements that make pop so leasing to the ear, but they seem to be assembling these elements in a way that first of all sound good to them in all of the ten songs here. As much as I've try to do as many different things over the course of 12 albums, it's still kind of branded as Stereophonics. Stereophonics is where I come from and I'll always do that. We all love each other as a band and we've got some big plans, probably for 2024 or 2025. Patty says, “I was thinking about how we should try to grow right along with them, because they’re still here.” There’s no breaking up with the band or anything,” he explained. “For me, after 25 years of doing all our work, it’s like, I wanna show other sides of what I would like to try creatively.” Far from Saints is the debut album by the titular trio Far from Saints, composed of Welsh singer-songwriter Kelly Jones and Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker of the American band The Wind and The Wave, who became friends with Jones after touring with his band Stereophonics in 2013.
