Bolstered by Hate: Add two to this general’s Wounds characteristic. Far less compelling a choice when you only have one Command Trait to give out, so skip this. D- This command ability is incredibly powerful for two reasons: Firstly it allows us to plan for double turns. Double turns themselves – that is when you go second in one battle round and then first in the next round after winning the priority roll – are potentially game swinging events that often can completely change the dynamic of the game. This mechanic has always been contested amongst the Age of Sigmar community, and this command ability is the first time we’ve seen armies interact with this mechanic. The grey reminded me of winter pelts and I could imagine these guys raiding and marauding their way through wintery lands in pursuit of their master’s predetermined prey. This is why I’ve gone with a winter basing scheme for this warband too. Plus purple and red always look so wonderfully visceral and dramatic on white.

This Start Collecting! set is a perfect starting point for this venture. The new Chaos Lord on Karkadrak is incredible and makes for a fine centrepiece. The Chaos Knights are possibly the nicest cavalry models I’ve ever seen and the Chaos Warriors, whilst amazing, didn’t come with horses, so I swapped them with my good friend Adam Troke for… yep, you guessed it, the Chaos Knights from his Start Collecting! set. And Boom! A burgeoning mounted army, ready to plunder and add skulls to the throne of Khorne! Those who claw their way to the heady heights of Chaos Lord find themselves on the precipice of great power or eternal damnation – but at least they can always get a sweet daemonic mount. The Ogroids can also be built up just as regular guys or as the command squad, plus their weapons are interchangeable pose-wise from left-handed to right. Chaos Daemon Prince Sprues We are a small team of Warhammer Enthusiasts and miniature collectors, hoping to support and further promote the hobby.

I can’t wait to get it all painted and on the table… I just hope I can fit it all in… now where’s my calculator? Fiery Orator –This general can chant 2 prayers in their hero phase instead of only 1. In practice this means you’ll be chanting the same prayer twice, which it does let you do. B

Mighty Ritualist: When this general attempts to perform a Ritual of Sorcerous Might, that ritual is successful on a 2+. While this is unexciting, anything that improves your ability to consistently improve your spellcasting is very relevant so a strong consideration. A I think this is another fantastic kit that Slaves to Darkness fans are going to have a lot of fun with — and they are also a really scary unit now. But we’ll take on how the rules work in a different article. Review: New Vallejo Game Color range – now for pro painters only? 3.1k views | posted on January 7, 2023 As we do not yet know individual prices, it is difficult to determine the exact value of the products included. But with the previous army sets, the saving was usually around 25% compared to buying them individually (plus whatever the special edition codex is worth to you), and with the Slaves to Darkness set, the value seems to be similar. I’m digging these new poses. Again, GW Managed to combine the imposing look of the older Chaos Warriors with more dynamic poses. Kudos to them on for this update.

Lord of Terror –Subtract 1 from the Bravery characteristic of enemy units within 6″. Meh, bravery. C The Daemon Prince is really highly-detailed, but there are a lot of bits that aren’t in the instructions because they didn’t really say much for the Warhammer 40k version. Overall I was really happy with this Army Boxed set as a veteran Slaves to Darkness player. Everything in the box is new, plastic kits. While the Daemon Prince and Chosen aren’t new units I think they are both leaps and bounds ahead of their previous versions. And we also get the new Ogroid unit, too! I kind of want another set of Ogroids just so I can run a full squad and also have the Champ, Musician, and Standard Bearer in the unit as well. Looks like my Slaves to Darkness army is getting a major boost! These sculpts are excellent though, very dynamic but close enough to the originals to fit nicely in in with the rest of the range. They also don’t have markings for any specific god so can be painted to suit your taste in appalling extra-dimensional overlord or overlords. A great update to classic sculpts. When you absolutely need to reduce your whimpering foes to ashes, these Heralds of Ruination can prove their mettle by fighting twice in the same phase. It’s only once per battle, and the exertion causes them to strike-last the second time around, but that’s no issue thanks to their formidable suits of hellforged armour.

Is he worth it? He’s much more expensive than he was, at 380 pts but not as much of an investment as Archaon at least. If you include him you really have to build around him, but he can cleave through enemies like tissues. He also has his own legion but that is beyond the scope of this article. We’ll discuss it another time. Extremely flexible playstyle –As discussed above this army can run the gamut from a horde to a hyper elite force and everything in between. Added in with the Marks of Chaos and even the same unit can play very differently. This also grants a lot of painting opportunities. Analysis: Impressive enhancements to combat abilities as you might expect. That said, S2D has access to several sources of reroll hits so the general’s benefit is more important here. Adding +1 to wound represents a significant damage upgrade across your entire army, making them a compelling choice if you’re planning to win the game in the combat phase, leveraging weight of dice to maximise this benefit. This got a slight points drop after the book was released from a slightly bonkers 250 to a slightly less bonkers 225. Thrilling to build and field, and with a huge array of options when building your army, the Warhammer Slaves To Darkness Army Set is a fantastic release for an army that's always intrigued me. Now, the real question is: do I build a Slaanesh army of shifting, slippery killers? Or go all-out for blood with a Khorne army? It's so hard to decide, thanks to the robust offerings on display in the Battletome book included in this set!The Chaos Gods are the ‘Big Bad’ of the setting and have had a huge trove of lore written about them over decades, so please forgive the rough edges of what follows…..
