Not all of the garments accommodate the same range of sizes. While they all have at least one option for larger sizes, they’re not all equally plus friendly. A couple of them go up to a 5XL, one goes up to a 6XL, 2 only go up to a 3XL, and one stops at a 2XL as its largest size. While I myself can get by with a L or an XL depending on how oversized it’s meant to be, I know plenty of people who can’t, and thus it would have been nice if they had chosen patterns that would have allowed ALL of the garment instructions to be offered in the same range of plus sizes. Trust me, nothing is more disappointing as a crocheter than to flip through a pattern book, find a pattern you love and get excited to make, assume it’s going to be available in your size because all the others have been so far, only to discover it’s NOT actually written for your size and doesn’t include instructions for how to customize beyond the pattern. A good portion of the patterns call for DK weight yarn, which is harder to find in the US, often comes in fewer color options and provides less yardage for the price than worsted weight yarn, and doesn’t tend to come in the more economical size options (such as the one pound skeins) like worsted weight yarn does. While yes, it’s possible to use a different weight yarn, this will alter the finished size of whatever it is you’re making (something that beginner crocheters might not understand), so you need to know how to adjust your hook size accordingly, which is something only experienced crocheters would know how to do. If your idea of Potter heaven is all the wizarding things on one blanket then this crochet-along is for you! Keep in mind that I’m writing this review based on my first impressions as an experienced crocheter upon receiving and looking through the book before actually trying out any of the patterns (although I did read through some of them). If you’re a crafter looking for places to visit this summer, you’re in the right place! We’ve scouted out some of the best workshops,…

Crochet your own costumes, familiar creatures, and classic artifacts from the Harry Potter films in this follow up companion to the bestselling Harry Potter: Knitting Magic. Perhaps a separate book of Harry Potter magical creature inspired amigurumi would be an ideal solution. Amigurumi is incredibly popular with the generation that grew up with Harry Potter. An amigurumi Fantastic Beasts! I'd buy it & if the sales of existing amigurumi books are anything to go by, lots of other people would too. This is a cute little crochet kit that lets you make two of the Harry Potter characters. The book in the kit gives great instructions on how to crochet and gives you patterns to make fourteen Harry Potter characters. The kit contains the materials to make Harry and Dobby. Lets get creative and learn to sew and crochet with this crafty kitfor any Harry Potter fan looking to create something magical!

The book gives great instructions on how to crochet although it might seem difficult for beginners. There is no real direction with how to end a row. Do you keep crocheting around or join the rows? is the Chinese Year of the Rabbit, with those born in this year said to be kind and gentle, modest, elegant and quiet. Accio Amigurumi – The Sorting Hat; Fawkes; Professor McGonagall's Animagus; Mandrake; Hedwig; Dobby; Harry's stag Patronus We also have a few Hogwarts-inspired crochet patterns that complete this collection, including an owl granny square and a couple of bags, including a dragon scale bag that you will want to take with you on your next trip on the Hogwarts Express (or the Knight Bus if you prefer). Secondly, I was expecting more amigurumi. Perhaps amigurumi annoys some crocheters as some people seem to erroneously think that there is little more to crocheting, but, Harry Potter is a series known for its magical beings animals, monsters, spirits and plants. Many are good patterns in their own right, but, this is the magical world of Harry Potter, a place of wonder, mystery, alien to muggles like us, a treasure trove of inspiration. I wonder how many other fans would struggle to recognise many of the patterns as Harry Potter inspired without the context of the book? An example of this is the dirigible plum pillow, the same plums Luna used as earrings. It's a really nice pattern per se & one of the minority inspired by the wizarding world instead of the film set (although its introduction is, yet again, about the filming rather than the item in the wizarding world) but when a hardcore Potter fan like my partner can't, without context recognise where it & so many of these patterns come from, is there- perhaps- a potential problem emerging? Aside, I'm sure a crochet pattern for actual earrings is a more obvious take. Again, it's not to say that many of them are not good patterns in their own right. The patterns inspired by outfits worn by the characters in the movies- often muggle chic (would the Wizarding world call it that, perhaps?)- rather than concepts from the books is another matter of personal preference. I quite liked many of them- such as Hermoine's Godric's Hollow set. But even for movie fans the patterns are not replicas of the originals (or in some cases even the same type of clothing!) but instead 'inspired' by them... so how is that distinguishable from a nice but normal pattern- the likes of which could be found elsewhere? Accio Amigurumi - The Sorting Hat; Fawkes; Professor McGonagall's Animagus; Mandrake; Hedwig; Dobby; Harry's stag Patronus If you're a fan of these books and movies or love pop culture patterns in general, this is the collection for you. Similar to the above, a couple of the patterns have better options available elsewhere online in which the final products look (in my opinion, as a longtime crocheter) better than the final products of the patterns shown in the book - namely Hedwig and the mandrake. A comprehensive, officially licensed guide to crocheting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Harry Potter: Crochet Wizardry includes projects for every skill level and a wide range of stitches and techniques featuring yarn expertly matched to the true colors used in the films. It’s well organized and well labeled. Everything is easy to find and it’s easy to navigate through the book
