Most people that own a Katana will have different reasons and different answers to the question of what makes this amp series so special. While it works great for this using just the panel settings, it is even better when you turn up the midrange and bass in the “Global EQ” setting. You can get some seriously heavy tones that amp sims and processors just can’t do…at least to my ears. So try putting a mic in front of your Katana sometime if you can! Is heavier compared to the Katana 50 (that was the one that made me buy this bad boy), but the extra power provided, the support for 8 patches made me go for this one.

The power adjustment (0.5W, 50W, 100W) is exremely useful going from apartment, to practice space, to the gig. I move to this amp after my starter amp, a little (and also great for what it is) NUX Mighty Air, and I'm very happy with the much it provides for my specific use cases. Most modeling amps use Class D because it is easy, and some would say that solid state amps don’t really benefit from having a different power section. But the power section IS an important factor.
