So, no, matter how old you are, if you want a nice magical read, nothing too heavy, the kind of book you’d have loved when you were a kid if you’re an adult, or the perfect book For a child if you still are one, grab this, you won’t be disappointed. The Clockwork Crow is a mysterious Gothic Christmas tale set in a frost-bound Victorian country mansion. I would recommend this book to third through seventh grade readers, and the audio would be enjoyed by the whole family…from kindergarten through adult. The Clockwork Crow’within the stranger’s parcel only adds to the mystery, and Seren’s need for truth…. When she finally arrives at her destination, to find that her godfather, his wife and young son Tomos are absent, and only a skeleton staff of servants to meet her, she assembles the contents of the parcel to stave off boredom and loneliness.

Man mag das Buch wirklich gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen, da man endlich die Antworten auf diese vielen rätselhaften Fragen haben möchte. At a time when books often sprawl over 300 pages or more, it is wonderfully concise too, and even better for that.Except for the past six months, when Great-aunt Grace had found her, and brought her to live in a great house in London. This series is actually a republish by Candlewick Books making it more available worldwide hopefully. An orphaned girl, Seren, is given a mysterious parcel en route to her new home; she arrives to find the house full of locked-up secrets, its family in mourning for a vanished son. As she travels to live with her godfather and his family is a small village in Wales, she encounters a strange man who gives her an even stranger package.

We talked about the clues through the book and how some of them led to dead ends and about what the world of The Fair Family might be like. But while at the train station she meets a man who gets a little nervous when he hears a strange noise.

The book was all a bit of a mystery as you don't find out what has happened at the massive mansion until you are a few chapters from the end. Some read-alikes are The Wolves of Willoughby Chaseby Joan Aiken, The Night Gardener by Jonathan Auxier, The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place by Maryrose Wood, and (for older readers) The Perilous Gard by Elizabeth Marie Pope.
