The romance in this book is one of the best I've read this year. I was a little concerned at first, since in the prologue Signa's a baby and Death is there and all that so it's a bit strange but....I can overlook it.

A duke has been murdered. The lord of Thorn Grove has been framed. And Fate, the elusive brother of Death, has taken up residence in a sumptuous estate nearby. He's hellbent on revenge after Death took the life of the woman he loved many years ago...and now he's determined to have Signa for himself, no matter the cost. I was so excited to get my hands on this book! I loved Belladonna so much that I could not wait to read the follow up! So, did it live up to expectations? Hmm not quite. But to be fair the bar was really high, and I did still really enjoy a lot of it, it just wasn't what I was expecting, and I was a little disappointed with some things. I found the characters flat and the plot messy, like the author couldn't decide what direction the story should take.Dangerous, suspenseful, and seductive, this sequel to the story of Signa and Death is as utterly romantic as it is perfectly deadly. Thank you so much to the publisher, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and Hachette Audio, for providing me with copies to read and review. Signa is such a great main character. She's strong, but not arrogant, gentle, but not timid. She's the perfect balance of someone who has a smart mouth but doesn't get on my nerves like most of the main characters with the snarky personality do. She's responsible, smart, and everything I wish to be if I were a main character in a book (not like it's ever gonna happen. A girl can dream though) Wisteria *will* have beautifully designed cases, similar to the rest of the series. They may be my favorite yet! I didn't feel that there was much development for Signa and Death's relationship; the fact that his screen time was also very much reduced in this part also served as a major disappointment. I was not expecting so much of the story to center around Blythe's point of view; another aspect that irked me was why highlight when the chapters would be from Blythe's POV and not title those from Signa's POV, the same way. It felt like a bad editing choice. 😞

When he turned to her, the moonlight shone upon him in a way that reminded Signa of a painting, wisps of shadows like brushstrokes upon a canvas. “Because I have waited an eternity to meet you, Signa Farrow.” The words were a balm she clung to, relished. “To me, you are a song to a soul that has never known music. Light to someone who has only seen the darkness. You bring out the absolute worst in me, and I become vindictive toward those who treat you in ways I don’t care for. Yet you also bring out the best in me—I want to be better because of you. Better for you.BLYTHE! I did not expect her to have her own POV in these books or for her to basically be a second main character with Signa and I can't say I loved it. She takes up entirely too much of the story and it felt more about her than Signa and Death and I really don't care about her. She's fine but I am not here for her, she's not why I fell in love with these books or who I want to read about but unfortunately that's what we got. I will say that she grew on me by the end and I am a little more invested now than when I started the book but I still really only care about Signa and Death.

im sad that i lost a lot of love for her in Foxglove but she was unbearable for me by the end of the book. honestly the only reason i managed to finish this is summarised in two words. Keep it up, Little Bird, and we'll see if you're still as stubborn the next time I get my hands on you." You are no soft thing to be coddled.” HisSigna, at the age where it would be acceptable for her to marry, has some other prospects as well. Watching her navigate that, while trying to decipher her unusual feelings for Death was super compelling. I was eating it up. the love love loveee i have for this world and characters omg AND IM SO SO EXCITED FOR WISTERIA I ABSOLUTELY NEED IT ASAP THE POTENTIAL IN THERE FOR ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVS i can just imagine how fun itll be omg ??? OK WE’RE DONE WITH THE SEMI-DEEP ANALYSIS BECAUSE THIS WILL BE BY FAR THE MOST EMOTIONS-BASED PART OF MY REVIEW. There are numerous variants of this same phrase throughout the ending half of the book and when I tell you I giggled like a maniac throughout all of them (still in public, might I add)
