Oxygenated bleach is chlorine-free, but it’s great for removing stains and whitening just about anything; only it’s devoid of the toxicity that accompanies standard chlorine bleach. Grouting yourself? Don't fear, its relatively straight-forward and you will only need a few specialised tools - a rubber grout float, trowel, grout sponge and a washboy. May be used in dilute or concentrated form. (Do not use on Limestone, marble or other acid sensitive surfaces).

Allow the baking soda to foam for a few minutes and then scrub with a nylon scrub brush. Rinse bathroom floor clean with a damp mop or rag, making sure you rinse it frequently. How to Remove Grout Stains on Natural Stone

Different ways to clean grout

Dilute 1 part LTP Grout Stain Remover in 4 parts warm water. Apply with a cloth or sponge wrung out in the solution. Wipe off thoroughly with a clean damp cloth. A fully waterproof and mould-resistant cleaner, the Unibond is dry in under 60 minutes, making it the absolute best option for people with little spare time on their hands. When stains form, the deeper the stains go, the harder they are to eliminate. Although tough stains are hard to get rid of, they are not impossible; we are here to show you how to remove grout stains using a few proven methods. And should all else fail, a steam mop can be your last line of defense against dirty grout stains that are ruining the look of your kitchen or bathroom floor. Clean the tile edges to remove excess grout using a flat-blade screwdriver and utility knife. You need to create at least a ⅛-inch joint space for the new grout to penetrate and adhere correctly. 2. Inspect the Tiles

Grout is used to fill and seal the grout joints between individual tiles. Made from either cement or epoxy resin, it serves two main purposes: If, after all of these steps, your grout is still stained or mouldy, then you may need to re-grout your tiles. You can find out more about the cost of this in our regrouting cost guide. How to clean grout on floor tiles Generally speaking, applying white vinegar and a paste made from baking soda and water using a stiff scrub brush works well. Scrub, then rinse the area with a sponge and water. Let the tile and grout dry completely before repainting.

How to mix grout

Apply the colorant using a small stiff brush, like a toothbrush. You can also use a grout-coating pen. These pens are best for small areas, but they are a cost-effective solution for the right project. 3. Work the Colorant Into the Grout If the grout is new, wait at least 48 hours—72 is better—before applying grout sealer. This gives the fresh grout enough time to dry completely. Otherwise, you could get cloudy or bubbled results. Steam cleaners are a great option for cleaning floor tile grout and no chemicals are needed, although they do leave a lot of hot water in their trail. They’re very effective at loosening up stains and dirt, especially if you use a dedicated attachment that’s designed for grout joints. For more stubborn stains, you can use a commercial grout cleaning product such as HG Grout Cleaner. While slightly more expensive than the homemade option, these tend to be more effective on heavily stained grout joints. Suitable only for use with fully glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles, the Unibond features a helpful built-in sponge applicator which makes getting complete coverage of the cleaner on your grout absolute child’s play – simply push it against the grout and slide it along.

You may need to reseal your grout joints over time, as the protection may wear away. You can test the protection by sprinkling some clean water on the grout joint - if the water soaks into the grout, then you will need to reapply the sealer. How do I clean grout? Now, you can colour your grout work with our range of stylish colours, as shown in our swatch set we’ve pre-selected a good range of 10 colours in popular tints. Gently squeeze the bottle to apply steadily and consistently onto the grout joint using your preferred application tool, eg a small, stiff brush or sponge working it evenly onto the grout surface. Wipe away any excess sealer from the tile surface within the timeframe established from the project test (as a guide, within 30 minutes or less). Work in small manageable areas whilst applying and cleaning down – your test patch will dictate when to halt application to remove excess. We strongly recommend that you prime the surface with Grout Rescue Pre-Treatment before application for optimum results and the most accurate colours, whether the grout is new or old. Sitting somewhere in the middle of the above two options is the complimentary grout colour. In other words, choosing a grout that will make your grout joints stand out a little, without distracting from the overall tiling effect. If you are fixing 10mm or 20mm tiles to a concrete slab outside, you can use our Grout 3000 and Fugabella products.

The first step is to make sure your tile joints are completely clean - so there's no adhesive, dirt or debris that might impair your final results. It's a really simple way to make a statement and works particularly well with wall tiles - the classic example is pairing a dark grey grout with plain metro tiles. As you might expect, not all grouts will stain equally. A darker grout in a shower area is more likely to resist staining than a lighter grout in a busy hallway floor, for example. And some epoxy grouts are highly resistant to staining, as we’ll shortly see. Different ways to clean groutApply this mixture in much the same way as a branded grout haze cleaner and scrub each tile with a stiff-bristled brush to remove the offending grout haze. Prepare a mix of equal parts warm water and vinegar in your spray bottle. Spray it onto the grout and leave for several minutes. Then scrub with your stiff-bristled brush and rinse with warm water.
