This article was updated on June 17, 2021 to show equalized graph settings (i.e. minimum 50, maximum 70) in benchmarks except for Cinbench R23 & AIDA64 (which ran above 70) Even though the FUMA 2 Rev.B didn't top the charts, it offers a great mix of many things. Good thermal results, better than average noise levels, low cost, and ease of use all come together to make a serious bid for your dollars. Pros Because you can take on the big boys of the charts, do it with less noise, and offer it up to the world for a similar cost, it shows how well Scythe thought out what they did. At first glance, it is hard to see all of the magic happen, but all is revealed once in your hands and strapped to a CPU. Fan 2: 120 mm Kaze Flex PWM (4.0 - 24.9 dB (A), 300 - 1200 rpm, 28.2 - 86.93 m³ / h) (16.59 - 51.16 CFM) , 0.076 - 1.05 mmH2O The first tests were done with a TDP enforced at a 100w limit, because most consumers considering this cooler will likely be using a mid-range CPU like the Ryzen 5 3600x. Both coolers performed on par with each other – with the FUMA 2 winning some tests by a small margin, and the NH-U12S winning other tests by a small margin.

In my previous post, most people recommended the Fuma 2. After doing some research I’ve found that these two Scythe coolers are my best options in terms of price to performance. Performance-wise, they are fairly similar. Fuma has slightly better performance. Mugen has better noise levels. Mugen is cheaper. showcasing critical qualitative and performance metrics. I tested both the Noctua NH-U12S and the Scythe FUMA 2 in my home’s computer room with central air set to 73F. Both coolers were tested using Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste. Fan 1: 120 mm Kaze Flex PWM (2.7 - 23.9 dB (A), 300 - 1,200 rpm, 14.06 - 57.52 m³ / h) (8.27 - 33.85 CFM), 0.23 - 0.9 mmH2O Both of the Kaze Flex 120 II fans use a sealed fluid dynamic bearing (Sealed Precision FDB) that reduces friction and wear to a minimum thanks to a special oil film. Rubberised pads covering the frame have a decoupling effect and prevent the transmission of noise and vibrations to the case. H.P.M.S. The comparison is conducted under the following conditions: There’s more to a cooler than just it’s heat sink. The fans included have a huge impact on cooling performance and noise levels. Included with the FUMA 2 are the Kaze Flex 120 PWM and the Kaze Flex 120 Slim PWM fans. Fan 1Considering the 207 had the pleasure of taking air from a matched pair of 25mm fans, it is easy to see where the thermal advantage comes from, but all things considered, we feel that the Scythe FUMA 2 Rev.B is the obvious choice of the two. To top it all off, they are nearly identical in cost, so it's down to big and bulky, or big, but pleasant, you make the call. On the flip side, the low RPMs are also limiting the potential performance of this cooler – I imagine this cooler would perform better with higher RPM fans. I’ll be exploring this further and testing the FUMA 2 (and other coolers) with upgraded fans in a future article.
