As they told stories, Twig suddenly realized that the sky pirate captain, Cloud Wolf, was the same captain who tried to recruit him, and that he was also his father. stars for the story and so many characters that beautifully described in so much details, wonderful graphics in the book and 1 star for the ending. The story moves along at a rate of knots and our hero, the endearing Twig, falls from frying pans into fires with alarming regularity. The only reason why i never put it down was because i was waiting for something good to happen, by the time i realized nothing good was going to happen it was too late for me to put ti down.

The Caterbird explained that it was now bound to watch over him always, because Twig was at its hatching. Er ist aufgewachsen bei den Waldtrollen, doch was ihm seine gute Mutter Spelda erzählt, verwirrt Twig. I mean, if she and her beast Karg had joined Twig and the banderbear earlier in the story, the four of them would've made an epic DnD group with five-star potential. Can he discover the truth about his past, and find out in what direction the path of his future will lead him? When their captain Cloud Wolf, whose real name is Quintinius Verginix, tells a story about his past, Twig realizes that Quintinius is his true father, and wants to join his crew.I had a lot of love for Twig - he was a lovable character, a relatable little guy who doesn't fit in with his Woodtroll family and so sets off to find himself and his destiny in the Deepwoods. Forever thinking he was a Wood Troll, when he finds out he is not, he starts a journey to find out who he is. It's all a bit linear, which is a shame, because so many characters are passed and have enormous potential.

This book is about a 13 year old Twig who discovers that he was abandoned at birth by a unknown person. My 10 year old son loves Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Wolf Brother etc, Lord of the Rings, Magisterium. They are also co-creators of the Far-Flung Adventure series, which includes Fergus Crane , Gold Smarties Prize Winner, Corby Flood and Hugo Pepper, Silver Nestle Prize Winners, and the Barnaby Grimes Series.

Lielākā daļa vārdu cilvēkiem, vietām un objektiem ir autoru pašizdomājums, kas ik brīdi lika pavērties atpakaļ stāstā un atcerēties, ko tieši autors ar šo vārdu bija domājis. That said, both of us work in a very visual way, so a lot of the plotting, characterization and scene development is quite cinematic. If you are the kind of person who likes adventures and different types of monsters this is a great book for you! I've known about the Edge Chronicles for some time, and I've always admired Riddell's talent as an artst, but I've never really looked into the series. He was saved by his hammelhornskin waistcoat, which, sensing danger, bristled and caused the flesh-eating tree to retch.

After fleeing from a halitoad, Twig encountered a young slaughterer named Gristle Tatum, being attacked by a hover-worm. Though generally reviewed as a novel for children (like Stewart's previous books), Beyond the Deepwoods is more grown-up than many a routine "adult" fantasy series, and has the kind of compulsive readability that makes Harry Potter a treat for older readers too. If you want a book that's sheer enjoyment, with lots of fun pictures that pulls you into it's world, this is for you.

The book ended with Cloud Wolf promising Twig that he would never abandon him again, and the sky pirates setting off for Undertown. Have a story arc so shallow it hardly gets off the ground and when we do finally get to the end you really wonder if it was worth the effort. Since I love character building and continuity, I grew tired of this conflict-escape cycle and craved more complex characters and dialogue.

A childhood favourite of mine that I just re-read for the first time in twenty years and I adore it still! There are 13 titles in five sagas in the series, but each book is a stand-alone adventure, so you can read? As all caterbirds share telepathic dreams whilst in the womb, and the oakelf sage of Twig's woodtroll village lived in a caterbird cocoon, this caterbird knows all about Twig. I was thinking I'd picked up a light-hearted children's fantasy that I'd whiz through without too much emotional attachment.I don't like reading in general, you hand me a book, I'll maybe read a few pages of it and then I'll get bored with it. The next morning, Twig is woken by a slaughterer who tells him that he has outstayed his welcome, and is expected to leave immediately, which he does. Huge with tree-trunk legs and arms so long that their knuckles graze the ground, they have two tusks which curve up from the jutting lower jaw and large, doleful eyes.
