The Monarch mechanic can be deceptive at times, and fights to wrestle control over the crown are likely to ensue, so new players should be wary of when to be defensive and offer value trades and when to full-send their board state to threaten lethal on another player. The reminder text of the Monarch isn’t as bad as a mechanic I have yet to get to, so overall it’s alright. Of course, as the second most powerful antagonist in Lord of the Rings, the role of the secondary commander of this precon belongs to Saruman.

Human Knight creature with trample and haste for Éowyn, Shieldmaiden; Forth Eorlingas!; Oath of Eorl and Riders of Rohan. Basically, all the new cards support either Food tokens or lifegain (or both) or bring some additional kind of value, usually related to generating or benefiting from tokens.removal; Reclamation Sage, Colossal Whale, Swan Song, Inscription of Abundance, Beast Within, Windswift Slice, Trap the Trespassers, Mystic Confluence, Lothlorien Blade, Lignify Acererak is fair this time I swear guys please trust me Acererak is fair this time I swear guys please trust me Acererak is fair this time I swear guys please trust me

Available in all languages of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Collector Boosters are versions of Sol Ring themed after the Rings of Power crafted for the Elves, Dwarves, and Mortal Men of Middle-earth. These feature the language of the High Elves, Quenya, in Tengwar letterforms. A limited number of both double rainbow foil and non-foil versions can be found, though double rainbow foil versions will be serialized with different total counts: card draw; Galadriel, Elven-Queen (lol), Erestor of the Council, Legolas Greenleaf, Cirdan the Shipwright, Gandalf, Westward Voyager, Plea for Power, Lorien Revealed, Mystic Confluence, Mirror of Galadriel, Song of Earendil Pippin, Warden of Isengard can be especially useful thanks to its two abilities. Being able to create a Food token at any time makes it so that you can get them during your opponents’ turns, which would cause Merry, Warden of Isengard to trigger during that turn, somewhat bypassing its “this ability triggers only once each turn” rule. The second ability on Pippin can also be a massive game ender if you have enough creatures on the field. Since Saruman runs off non- Creature spells, your Orc Army could also benefit from the greatest Nike Air Force Ones (i.e. Swiftfoot Boots), alongside providing payoffs for rebuilding after a failed assault on enemy territory. Perhaps having friends like Storm-Kiln Artist, Goblin Electromancer and Archmage Emeritus could assist in our plans…These four variant scene cards are included only in the Bundle and Bundle: Gift Edition (plus non-foil versions in Collector Boosters) and depict the pivotal moment before the One Ring was destroyed. You can see this scene in a two-by-two card grid, but other scenes exist in a range of grids all the way up to six by three cards—worthy of showing an epic scene! Treasure artifact for Cavern-Hoard Dragon; Erestor of the Council; Gimli of the Glittering Caves; Prosperous Innkeeper; Shiny Impetus; Song of Eärendil; The Balrog of Moria and Tireless Provisioner. lands and Arbor Elf, Elvish Mystic, Paradise Druid, Wose Pathfinder, Elvish Archdruid, Farhaven Elf, Wood Elves, Elvish Piper, Growth Spiral, Rampant Growth, Cultivate, Travel Through Caradhras, Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Commander's Sphere, Model of Unity Something very notable about LotR for me is that the books are basically the single most influential work of their genre. They’ve informed the medieval fantasy genre for decades: Dungeons and Dragons, Magic’s early sets, countless video games, tons of books, movies, even works that directly try to question or oppose Tolkien’s views like George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. There’s even a very recognizable style of fantasy that gets called Tolkienesque, even though it can be argued that most “Tolkienesque” fantasy at best takes the most superficial aspects of Tolkien’s work, usually missing the more interesting and deep aspects of the books. For fans new and old across Magic and The Lord of the Rings, this is a chance to celebrate with an unforgettable event for an amazing set. We'll show you more about the Magic Celebration event later this year. Secret Lair Joins the Fellowship

Cards printed in The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth, and therefore having that set symbol and code, are: The Monarch for Aragorn, King of Gondor; Archivist of Gondor; Champions of Minas Tirith; Court of Ire; Crown of Gondor; Denethor, Stone Seer; Éomer, King of Rohan; Faramir, Steward of Gondor; Fealty to the Realm; Forth Eorlingas!; Oath of Eorl; Palace Jailer and Throne of the High City. Scenes range from two by two cards, as seen above, up to six by three cards—an epic 18 cards to show an epic scene at that scale—and there are seven total scenes available in June, five of which appear in The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Draft and Set Boosters, with all seven appearing in Collector Boosters. (The scene above is available in Bundle and Bundle: Gift Edition as well as Collector Boosters and gives you a taste of what to expect.) Do you have questions, comments, or suggestions for more new-to-Commander content you'd like to see? Whether you're brand new or a returning player, new ideas and fresh perspectives help Magic grow and evolve into an ever more exciting and interesting adventure.
