The Honor 90 Lite’s performance is surprisingly smooth, thanks in part to the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 powering it along. That’s matched with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM, and whether gaming or running casual apps, we seldom struggled with the phone. The moving photo function only takes effect in the standard mode. When turned on, the function will be With a 4500mAh battery, we got a very comfortable day out of the Honor 90 Lite. With no wireless charging, wired speeds cap out at 35W. That means when matched with a compatible charger, 10 minutes gives you 15 per cent charge, half an hour fills the phone up by around 55 per cent, and an hour takes it up to 90 per cent, with around 75 minutes charging it up fully. Honor 90 Lite verdict I’ve spent the last few weeks using the Honor 90 as my main handset, and that time has thrown quite a few surprises my way, as well as a few let-downs. The question is, does the Honor 90 do just enough to stand out against its competitors? Here’s my verdict. Design and screen

The Honor 90 Lite may not have much in the way of direct competition, but it does its part as a sub-£250 smartphone contender

The Honor 90 Lite’s piddly 5MP ultrawide isn’t a strong performer either, offering a washed-out approximation of the main sensor’s palette, with noticeably poor detail as you move out towards the edges of the frame. It also struggles with overexposure, blowing out highlights on a moderately sunny day. The final sensor in this nominal trio is a 2MP macro camera. Making a camera that’s supposed to highlight close-up detail with such a low resolution is rather counter-intuitive. Sure enough, this sensor struggles with detail, contrast and exposure, and as such is a total waste of time. The 50MP front camera is a strong performer too, providing decent detail, contrast and colour depth, while skin tones are on point. Honor has also offered two shooting angles – one normal 1x, and one zoomed-out 0.8x option. There’s only the one selfie camera around front, so there’s clearly cropping involved here (hence the megapixel boost), but it’s an effective mid-range camera solution.

Either approach can make for a good photo, but I think the Honor's overcooked its shot, leaving me with the Pixel as my favorite. The Honor 90 Lite proves to be quite a capable shooter, at least in optimal conditions. However, its 100MP main sensor is the only camera of true worth, churning out surprisingly chunky 25MP shots using a 4-in-1 pixel binning technique. I was pleased with the natural look of most of the shots I captured in good daylight conditions. Honor’s colour science generally resists the temptation to pump up the colours, unless you activate that AI mode, which can still be useful in certain scenarios. The video quality enhancement effect includes the transition from SDR to HDR, HDR10 improvement, and product information, specifications, and product characteristics as much as possible, HONOR may adjust and

Lastly I tested the Honor 90's selfie camera with its impressive 50MP sensor. It still takes 12MP resolution images like the Pixel 7a, but produces an overall cooler shot, in a reversal from what we saw with the Honor's rear cameras. The detail of both shots is similar, but the strength and accuracy of the Pixel 7a's portrait effect is much better here, although neither phone did a good job at capturing the edge of my glasses.By default, the Honor 90's main camera takes photos at 12.5MP, just like the Pixel 7a. Unlike the Pixel, you can shoot at the sensor's full resolution on the Honor. This comparison uses the default resolution for both phones. The display curves more sharply at the corners than it did on the Honor 70, which can be an issue with some apps as it sometimes cuts off the odd icon or bit of information (although this was a rare occurrence, admittedly). What is impressive, though, is the screen-to-body ratio which sits at a massive 93.3% thanks to the incredibly minimal bezels that make the display feel almost completely end to end, particularly as it curves ever so slightly over the edges. It’s a similar story with the ultra-wide camera, which came in handy during a visit to Paris for the Honor 90’s launch event as there was a neverending amount of city scenes that I wanted to capture to their fullest.
