Description

One of the distillery’s strong points is that it was designed to provide a holistic tourism experience to guests.

The pigeon was spotted by Greater Manchester Police in Bury town centre as they undertook Operation Heartbeat. Pink Pigeon Rum is from Mauritius a small country/island near Reunion Island, 50040 mile east of Madagascar, and not to be confused with Mauritania. The last botanical also come straight from Reunion, fresh orange peel gives Pink Pigeon rum its extra zingy lift and fresh, lively edge, giving this rum a sense of excitement with all the beautiful calm vanilla notes. They can also be found on Ile aux Aigrettes and there are plans to introduce them to La Vallée de Ferney and Bras d’Eau National Park.Uniquely, we add hand-picked vanilla from orchids that grow in the rainforest canopy of nearby Madagascar. Bottle: Interesting slightly textured opaque black coating to the tall cylindrical bottle with a large sort of coat of arms silkscreened in what on the label.

Pink Pigeon Rum is named after the iconic and endangered Pink Pigeon, which is indigenous to the island of Mauritius and carefully protected (the Medine Estate donates a portion of the proceeds from each bottle of rum to the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation). years later, New Grove rum still conveys this strong heritage and retains these delicate flavours from the past. Groupe Saint Aubin began its diversification into the tourism sector in 2003 with the launching of La Route du Thé, du Rhum et de la Vanille, a unique and authentic experience, taking the traveler on a journey that excites all the senses through the discovery of the worlds of tea, sugar, rum, vanilla, and essential oils. The aroma gives way to notes of soft citrus, vanilla, caramel and whipped cream, and leads to a smooth, semi-sweet finish.

The award-winning New Grove Rums are testimonials to Mauritius’s long-standing history in the art of rum making. This Rum is produced in the Island of Mauritius which was once home of the Dodo, but is now home to the Pink Pigeon. Mauritian architect Maurice Giraud has created a building that blends harmoniously with the spectacular surroundings. Today, pink pigeons are found only in four sub-populations located in remote, forested, or mountainous regions of southwestern Mauritius.

Made as a single estate rum from a molasses base from sugar cane grown in volcanic soil by the Medine Distillery (founded 1926 and oldest operating distillery in the country) and spiced with Madagascar and Reunion Islands BourbonVanilla (which grows as orchids on both islands – and in the case of Reunion grows in heavily volcanic soil), orange zest from Reunion Island, orchid petals (giving it a gentian and white flowers taste) each ingredient is individually macerated in their rum then blended giving them a much more finer grained control over flavor than throwing them all together and hoping. Situated one thousand miles off the southeastern coast of Africa, the remote island of Mauritius was settled by the Dutch in 1507. The Bourbon vanilla, which is handpicked from the rainforests of Reunion Island and Madagascar, is sun dried and matured in wooden cases for eight months. Groupe Saint Aubin is also the pioneer of fresh sugar cane juice rum in Mauritius with its famous Saint Aubin 1819 Rum. Wood, natural stone, and water provide a sense of communion with nature, turning the distillery into one of the most beautiful factories in the world. It purchased the Bois Chéri Tea plantation in 1958 and worked on making the Bois Chéri Tea the most famous tea in Mauritius. It is here, nestled between the azure sea and towering mountains, that Medine Estate has been producing rum since 1926, making it the oldest working distillery on the Island.

Pink Pigeon Rum is a smooth and easy-to-drink spirit, despite the relative complexity of its flavours. Pink Pigeon’s hand-pollinated natural Bourbon vanilla grows freely in the canopy of the rainforests of Reunion and Madagascar, where the pods are handpicked and plunged into boiling water before being sun-dried, sorted and matured for eight months in closely layered wooden boxes.
