I do agree that it works much better if you've read the book and know what's going on, as the comic has to skip a lot, or it'd have to be crazy long.

I will say though that the characters don't really stand out and I can't get a good sense of the silo with the lack of detail and the blandness/sameness of the colors. They are managed by Silo 1, which houses Operation Fifty co-leaders Thurman, Erskine, and Victor, and other key personnel such as Donald.I've recently read Kindred: A Graphic Novel Adaptation, a gorgeously redone version of the original novel by Octavia E. Donald and Thurman are present for the opening ceremonies when a nuclear blast destroys Atlanta, and they and other attendees are ushered into the CAD-FAC.
