Description

In November 2021, Bulb was put into special administration to protect customers and their energy supplies. In December 2022, Octopus Energy took over Bulb's customers and staff. More than 90% of Bulb's customers had been moved to Octopus Energy by May 2023. Bulb blamed the surge in energy market prices ignited by the global gas crisis for scuppering its plans to raise funds to fuel its ongoing growth, which included new businesses in France, Spain and Texas. Until now, customers of collapsed suppliers have all been moved to a new supplier appointed by the regulator Ofgem – the supplier of last resort. Those customers had no say in it, and in many cases suffered big price hikes as a result. Bulb is considered too big to go through that process. Instead, a firm of special administrators will take over the day-to-day running of the company. They will be named in the next few days. Bulb’s green energy tariff offers 100% renewable electricity and 100% carbon neutral gas at no extra charge to customers. Ofgem has reviewed this transaction under their trade sale framework as part of our enhanced requirements to protect the interests of existing and future energy consumers: see the Ofgem guidance on Significant commercial developments and senior personnel changes

Today I have, eventually, received a completely unacceptable response from Siyanda: "This account was migrated to Octopus, talk to them" - basically palming me off. Cons: The clarity of its communication about the energy market left customers unimpressed Our Bulb supplier assessment New App Controlled:When it is connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth, you can easily change its mode, brightness and color. The Obulb Pro is powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium polymer battery with an updated capacity of 1650 mAh, and it uses Olight's signature Magnetic charging technology to recharge. Simply connect the magnetic end of the included MCC1A cable to the base of the Obulb Pro and plug the USB end into a suitable USB power source. The light on the cable will go red to show charging is in progress and turn green once charging is complete, after approximately 3 hours. It was among the worst for its customer service in our supplier assessment, though, with 11 out of 17 points. The providers that came bottom scored 10. Bulb in the energy crisis May: Bulb announced price increases in both April and May. It said 'we're sorry to put prices up for the second time this year', explaining that the wholesale energy costs have increased by 29% since March. We understand that coronavirus (Covid-19) may be causing some concerns about managing your energy. So you know, we’re open for business as usual and on hand to help you.

Question 2: Why Obulb has a sound emitted when on? My bulb does it on every mode except low/moonlight. Is that normal? An agreement was reached overnight between special administrators of Bulb and Octopus Energy, the UK government confirms today, in a move that will protect consumers and taxpayers.

You'll be in safe hands throughout the transition: we're one of the UK's most experienced suppliers for major customer migrations like this. People who joined us from failed supplier Avro Energy got the best customer experience of any transfer in the market this year. Last night’s deal follows a competitive and extensive sale process run by Bulb’s special administrators.Moving forward, I intend to do everything in my power to ensure our energy system provides secure and affordable energy for all. With 1.5 million customers and 650 staff, Bulb was the largest supplier to get into difficulties in 2021. Bulb’s special administrators have been running a competitive and extensive sale process within the market for Bulb in recent months and have now reached a final agreement which will see Bulb’s 1.5 million customers transferred to Octopus Energy. The special administrator of Bulb is obligated to keep costs of the administration process as low as possible. Government has the option to recoup costs through the established shortfall recovery mechanism which would see a levy charged on industry, maximising value for money for taxpayers. Note: If not in use, it is recommended to enable the "Auto Sleep" function. When it is not turned on or in sleep mode, it needs to maintain a real-time Bluetooth connection with the APP, so the static power consumption is relatively large

The Olight Obulb Pro is an update on the Obulb MC, now offering a higher output of 240 lumens warm white light, 7 coloured light outputs and app control. It achieved a respectable score for its support of vulnerable customers in our supplier assessment but was still beaten by six other suppliers. Bulb common complaints

Ofgem plans to apply to court to appoint the administrator once it has had approval from the business secretary, Kwasi Kwarteng.
