Twentieth Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment have announced the official theatrical release dates for the four Avatar sequels. I’d obviously love to see the entire LOTR trilogy in 4k, but like the first Star Wars film if you had to choose one, wouldn’t it be the first? Especially as James Cameron-produced fan favourite Alita: Battle Angel supported both the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ premium HDR formats when it came out on 4K Blu-ray (under the Fox label, of course).

Immediately there is a sense of space and separation as the narration flies over the forests of Pandora. Freed up from the ‘Pocahontas’ storyline that was so richly plagiarised, Cameron and his writing team craft a story about family and survival, family and acceptance, family and loss, family and resolve, oh and good ole fashioned revenge. If ever there was a trick to undermine or lower our estimations of ourselves then this one shot achieves it. Speaking Na’vi – Delve into the complex Na’vi language created for Avatar, and the challenging task for the cast who had to speak it.

A shoot first and never ask any questions grunt, who sees it as a personal slight when one of his recruit’s sides against the political stance of the corporation.to my eye in this version than in the 1080 version, something that probably reinforces the whole "blue" tonal subtext of so much of the palette. Part Two – Actors and technology are pushed to the limit as James Cameron pushes the boundaries of a groundbreaking, new filmmaking paradigm.
