Vivo X90 Pro long-term review: Stylish design, stellar cameras Vivo X90 Pro long-term review: Stylish design, stellar cameras

I find the phone’s default colours a little over-saturated, but luckily a single tap enables the Zeiss Natural Colour mode – the camera company has long collaborated with Vivo on its camera hardware and software, including a T* anti-glare coating on the lenses here. This are all nitpicks that mean the X90 Pro’s screen definitely isn’t the best around, but is still excellent. The Pro mode is quite useful if you want to shoot in RAW, and there are a decent number of shooting modes, including Portrait, Panorama, Moon, Slo-mo, Food, Dual View, Astro, and more. With the X90 Pro, Vivo is once again delivering a terrific set of cameras that hold their own against the best that Android has to offer. Funtouch aggressively manages app networking, battery use, and even permissions in the background, creating problems as it shuts off apps you thought were running, or blocks notifications.Vivo refined the software to the point where Funtouch OS doesn't feel like an iOS clone, and the bloatware situation is much better this time around. It’ll take some getting used to if you’re coming from a different Android skin, but it’s doable and not as painful as it could’ve been. That all changes with the camera, where Vivo’s phone is almost unrivalled, especially when it comes to the absolutely brilliant main camera – by itself undoubtedly at the top of its game. inch AMOLED display The X90 Pro boasts a pixel-packed display with a higher resolution than even the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as well as a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate and support for HDR10+. The ultrawide is the weakest of the three rear lenses, with a drop in detail, a flatter colour palette, and diminished lowlight performance.

However it now says exact European release markets are still being decided, and will be officially announced at a later date. Finally we get to arguably Vivo’s key weak point in its ongoing attempts to break into Western markets: software.

Vivo X90 Pro Review: The low-light camera king - Trusted Reviews Vivo X90 Pro Review: The low-light camera king - Trusted Reviews

Vivo has had a great few years with its flagship X range, and that trend is set to continue with the impressively capable Vivo X90 Pro.

A lot of that has to do with the leather back; Vivo did a great job with the vegan leather finish, and while I got the standard black model, the red version of the X90 Pro looks stunning. Shutter lag is the time difference between when the shutter is triggered and when the photo is actually taken. It’s all down to personal preference, of course, but not even giving the option of a glass rear could potentially hurt the overall popularity of the flagship. That camera sticks out of the phone a good half-centimetre, and feels a little more obnoxious for the fact that only three of the ‘lenses’ are real – the bottom-right is simply the spot where a fourth lens would be on the more powerful X90 Pro+, which is only sold in China. So it’s a real shame this phone isn’t going global, as on paper that could easily rival the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
