For example, if a new driver claims to have new ground breaking technology in the face that provides 5% more forgiveness, you almost have to just take the manufacturers word for it because, let’s face it, how could we possibly know for sure? Finally there is the ultra-thin TPU outsole, comprised of six strategically placed plastic spikes and crescent moon shaped secondary lugs which are specifically designed not to clog. The design ensures no damage damage to the greens while giving maximum traction on shots.

Even though a spikeless shoe maybe slightly more comfortable, my preference is to wear spikes and given the choice between the ZG21s and a pair of spikeless shoes I’d go with the adidas on most occasions. The only exception would be on holiday when it’s just more convenient to have the more versatile option of a shoe without spikes that you can wear all day and not just on the course. The adidas ZG21 Golf Shoes are a lightweight, low profile, spiked golf shoe with a solid grip for every single swing. The iconic hybrid Lightstrike and Boost midsole is almost weightless but still charges every single step with energy and provides superior cushioned comfort. Completed with a waterproof upper, the ZG21 shoes also promise to keep your feet dry in wet conditions. Stability and consistent ball striking are achieved thanks to the six-spike Thintech TPU outsole. The overall result of adidas’ game-enhancing innovations is the confidence to line up your next shot with the power and stability to play your best. Bauer Media Group consists of : Bauer Consumer Media Ltd, Company number 01176085; Bauer Radio Limited,The new ZG21 outsole features an ultra-thin TPU construction, six strategically placed cleats, and a new crescent moon-shaped secondary lug to optimize grip, support and performance while ultimately reducing weight. Company number: 1394141; Registered office: Media House, Peterborough Business Park, Lynch Wood, Peterborough PE2 6EA and H Bauer Publishing, I've never been too much of a fan of wide-looking fits and bold colours on the golf course, like most golfers, I like my golf shoes to tie in nicely with my outfit - therefore the flashes of lime don't really do much for me.

Responsive to the demands of the golf swing and course conditions, the adidas ZG21 are also lightweight and super comfortable. Sporty look. The new outsole on the shoe has been inspired by heat-map studies and runs from heel to toe. In Adidas' research, they target these areas and place the maximum amount of traction where it’s needed most. The eye-catching outsole also features six strategically placed cleats and a new crescent moon-shaped lug to optimise grip and performance. A day after playing 18 holes with this shoe I tried out the Puma Ignite Fatsen8 Pro on the same course. The Puma shoe is spikeless so as you’d expect it was more comfortable. My feet felt fine after a round wearing the Pumas but there was a little soreness towards the end of the round I played wearing the ZG21s. The ZG21 comes in three different colours (all of which look great) and is also available in a standard or wide fit. The ZG21 really deserves a better name though. Something cool and memorable. After all, adidas are known for that when it comes to their footwear, whether it’s iconic training shoes such as Samba or Gazelle and football boots like the Copa Mundial and Predator.

PGA Pro Edits

I simply can’t fault the performance. This shoe does everything it’s supposed to do. With some products (golf clubs especially) you read about all the tech and what it is supposed to achieve but you don’t really know if it’s a load of old nonsense or not as in many cases it’s impossible to tell. Having tested a number of golf shoes from different categories over the last few years, I was intrigued to find out how Adidas had gone about creating a new one and whether that had any benefits for us golfers... The ZG stands for Zero Gravity due to the feeling of weightlessness you have when you put them on. The shoe weighs only 13 ounces which is considerably lighter than most other spiked models and 20% lighter than anything else adidas have produced for golf. ZG21 doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue though does it, which is a shame given how stylish they are. The design concept for the ZG21 was weightlessness, hence zero gravity. Obviously an unattainable goal, but the ZG21 did end up 20% lighter than the popular adidas Tour 360 XT. Adidas achieved weight savings in almost every aspect of the shoe through the use of advanced materials like Boost and Lightstrike, which also add to the comfort. Whether walking or swinging, the ZG21 provided a wonderful blend of support and cushioning.
