Description

With everything properly connected and configured, it was time to set up monitor mode. To do this, I started airmon-ng on the wlan0 device. root@kali: ~# airmon-ng start wlan0 Once I created a new blank filter, I just added the appropriate Vendor ID and Product ID and saved it. I connected both the H and the HA to an Engenius AP so I could monitor the signal level of both devices. This AP is about ¾ mile from me, and I am using just the standard 5db rubber antenna’s that ship with each unit. Surprisingly, it was working last week and when i set it up that time, it was nothing extra i needed to do. It came up by itself. ifconfig wlan(x) up - This reinstates the connection of your adapter. So in this case for example I shall type in "ifconfig wlan1 up" to reinstate.

AWUS036NHA – ALFA Network Inc.

ALFA AWUS036NHA is an 802.11n wireless USB adapter from ALFA Network, Inc. with a top connection speed of 150 mbps. It has an Atheros AR9271 chipset The HA was typically giving a signal strength, on the Engenius AP, of around -78 to -82. As low as -90db. This adapter is only for 2.4ghz and it has a sma connector. This usb wifi card is compatible with 802.11g or 802.11n, mimo and supports data rate up to 150 mbps.

If you always travels outstation or overseas and stay in Hotel with Wifi Hotspot, This is your best choice because from my own experience, your Laptop build in Wifi is too weak and always fail to get the connection Quantity, government, and military discounts are available. GSA (General Services Administration) compatible. The signal strengths I see with the HA are typically not as strong as what I see with the H. However, this can be misleading since the driver that the manufacturer writes controls this value, and from working on the 8187l driver, I know that it tends to be a bit optimistic. So this in itself is not really too important. They both saw about the same networks. There was some variation at times, with the H tending to see a few more. Again, this fact alone is not that important however, but consumers tend to like devices that show lots of networks, even if they can’t connect to them J. I’m running into the same issue that James posted on November 15th. When I disconnect and reconnect the device manually then go to Devices>USB>Atheros, just as you suggested to James, I still receive the “failed to attach the USB device” warning.

After letting this run for a while, I had a fair amount of SSIDs and beacons detected! Unfortunately, nothing in my immediate vicinity was running WEP. This is a single band (2.4 GHz) 802.11n adapter with maximum transfer speeds of 150 megabits per second (mbps). This is for one brand new (in retail box) AWUS036NHA wireless adapter with USB cable 5 dBi gain antenna, and installation CD. Some ALFA models include a bonus mount accessory, this one does not. A must have for every laptop user because this is 10 times more poweful than your laptop built in wifi and it give your laptop a better wifi reception and respone for faster internet ascess iwconfig wlan(x) mode monitor - At this time as well, if your adapter isn't in monitor mode when you typed just "iwconfig" by itself at the command prompt; this will change it to monitor mode. This needs to be done to utilize the adapter with all the kali apps.okay basically in at this stage you should see ~/wifichanges/wireless-regdb-2013.02.13#l highlighted in blue after you have From wireless-regdb-2013.02.13 folder Copy any .pem files you see to the crda pubkeys directory inside crda-1.1.3 folder Once I put the device properly in monitor mode, then I ran airodump! root@kali: ~# airodump-ng wlan0mon Since AWUS036NHA supports injections, make sure you are more close (use a better antenna ) usb 2-2: ath9k_htc: USB layer deinitialized apt remove firmware-atheros That said, I ran into some issues with the default filter, so I had to create a blank filter with the proper values.
