This was a good book about all creatures are equally important even though you don’t like them. My favorite character is Elvis who is a really funny spider and decides to help the main character who is Lana from dying as she tries to save the other spiders. That night, a magical golden thread leads them up through the hollow of the tree into a magical storybook land where a terrifying beast terrorises all who live there. Then when Harrison is kidnapped by the evil Spider Queen, Lana knows she must do whatever it takes to find him. Yet another lovely story from Ben Miller. I'm not a young reader (not that old either) but I simply love Ben's books. Thank you!! To get the approval of other human adults, many literature try to please the readers by adding unnecessary spices, or try to be difficult with too much symbols and hidden vague meanings. That probably is separate category of art of not getting the point across to reader in the most direct way possible. It is sophisticated when done right, and boring and pretentious when not done right. I am kind of tired of that as I do find some modern literature overly pretentious. I like this. Luna and Harrison like to climb a hollow trees. The developer suggests taking down the tree for estate development.There are so many brilliant things about being a children’s author. But the best thing is when a boy or a girl comes up to you after an event and says that they’re read one of my books and one of my books got them inside reading. Finding a love of reading is probably the most important thing that will ever happen to you as a young person. If you can find books that you love it’s so wonderful – to learn about the world and help your own writing and thinking. I t’s the greatest gift you can give yourself. So if anyone says ‘your book got me into reading’ that’s all I need to hear to help me feel encouraged and make me want to write more stories. I adore middle grade novels, with all their creativity and imagination; and this one is no exception.
