The three stories were first released in this edition, before subsequently being sold as separate books. The police were watching Naples, because of various criminals that, they suspected, would also be interested in the diamonds, and would be tailing him so they could inquire about the diamonds. At least, that's my version of events and that's what counts here because, very unusually, I actually appear in the book as his not entirely successful sidekick; the Watson to his Holmes. Four of Diamonds (2008): Similar to Three of Diamonds, but also includes The Greek Who Stole Christmas. I rate this book 5 stars because I thought it was funny and that it was the best detective story I have ever read. With a hodge-podge of clueless clues all leading into deadly danger, it must be a case for the Diamond Brothers… A wickedly funny hardboiled crime spoof from Anthony Horowitz, a master of humour and horror. After getting a taxi during the night, Herbert discovers the next day that the Falcon's funeral is being held at Brompton Cemetery, nearby. The most dated elements of the book are probably a couple of the more dubious jokes, and what would now be a highly insensitive reference to the Fat Man's chauffeur's skin colour.

A hilarious story about the world's worst detectives by the bestselling author of the Alex Rider series, Anthony Horowitz. A LITTLE 13 YEAR OLD BOY NAME NICK FOUND OUT ABOUT THE MALTESERS AND HELP The POLICE WHAT THEY WANTED. The message the author is trying to get to us is that not to give yourself away easily and not to trust everyone.

The story also ends with Lauren Bacardi, Nick's sidekick through most of the second half, having absconded with the diamonds by the time he gets to them, having withhold how much she knew about their location from him. In fact I wrote my first book when I was ten, stuck in a miserable, north London boarding school where reading and telling stories were my only lifeline.

Adaptation Distillation: In what is otherwise a remarkably faithful adaptation of the original novel (Horowitz wrote the screenplay himself), Nick's escape from Gott and Himmell's flat is simplified, and his second visit to the Hotel Splendide is omitted entirely. This began with two Sherlock Holmes continuation novels, The House of Silk and Moriarty, followed by my entry into the world of James Bond with Trigger Mortis. They both go to John Lewis but meet Gott and Himmell, and they try to elude them and Nick ends up in Santa's Grotto, but Himmell shoots Santa and Nick escapes. In The Diamond Brothers in… The French Confection (2002), the Diamond Brothers win a trip to Paris thanks to a French strawberry yoghurt, but accidentally get caught up in a drug smuggling ring and end up being forced to team up with the Sûreté to take them down. This book is in good condition - ex-library with one stamp on rfep; remains of borrowing sheet and stamp on ffep; stamp on half title and title pages; pages tanned; remainder mark on bottom edge; top and front edges a little dirty.

In addition to the highly successful Alex Rider ongoing series of books, he has also written episodes of several popular TV crime series, including Poirot, Murder in Mind, Midsomer Murders, and Murder Most Horrid . It grabbed my attention and pushed me to read more and more to find out what will happen to Herbert and his brother. Due to the book being told entirely from Nick's perspective, and perhaps the fact that the criminals believe the Diamonds to be softer targets than, say, other master criminals, we don't get to see a lot of the crooks clashing with each other, with the notable exceptions of the climax, and the fact that Gott and Himmel take out The Fat Man's chauffeur when they run into him in the Diamonds' flat. The author builds bad tension in the book when a bomb is thrown into Nick Diamonds room and he almost dies, "The grenade hit the bed and bounced back toward the window. The brothers have many hair-raising adventures, including one in which they are chased by a small plane in a scene reminiscent of Hitchcock's classic film North by Northwest, of which the book's title is a reference to and the book's plot spoofs. The genre is Action and the book is about how a guy that changed his name to Tim diamond and also opened his own agency but he is the worst detective of all time. The Falcon's Malteser is far from high literature as it comprises of many shallow characters, a thirteen-year old who speaks like Humphrey Bogart and a mystery story that centres around a box of chocolates. At home they find the Club is open, but their cleaning lady Betty Charlady says no good will come of it.
