While they are generally considered safe for humans, it's essential to be cautious when using wax melts around cats. Use in well-ventilated areas: Proper ventilation can help disperse any fragrance and minimise the concentration of scents in the air. Wax melts made with natural ingredients such as essential oils can be soothing and may benefit pets with anxiety or stress. If you have concerns or specific questions about your cat's health, it's always best to consult a veterinarian for personalised advice. Should we ask instead if cats are safe for wax melts?

You can find some of the candles on Home Bargains online, but of course, scented candles being scented candles, I’d always recommend purchasing them in-store as much as you can. Many cat owners still use wax melts in their homes without any issues. Some types of wax melts may even provide health benefits for pets. I’m saying the UK because I’m not even sure that you can get the Home Bargains candles anywhere else in the world, so whoever is looking for cheap candles in London and UK cities, you’d do well to pay a visit to Home Bargains. Milk Chocolate, from the Chocolate candle set, is actually a bit less strong than the Pink Rhubarb & Pear candle, yet still amazing to have burning while I’m writing on The Working Line.

Small amounts of essential oils might cause adverse reactions in cats, such as gastrointestinal upset, respiratory distress, or nervous system issues. With a heightened sense of smell compared to humans, certain scents can overwhelm or irritate your cat. Some cats may be more sensitive to strong fragrances, and exposure to heavily scented wax melts could cause respiratory issues or discomfort. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Yankee Candle in the Home Bargains candles section! There are quite a few different ranges available:Some cats may have allergies or sensitivities to certain ingredients found in wax melts. Ensure that the wax melts you're using are safe for pets to make your own. Choose unscented or lightly scented wax melts: Opting for products with milder or no fragrances can reduce the risk of overwhelming your cat's sensitive nose. On my last visit to the Home Bargains candles section, I was really happy to find two new scented candles that were not there when I took the first pictures to share with you. Both are from the Candy Cane Lane candle collection: Available in the Home Bargains wax melts section, you could find the same Christmas scents, as well as a few others which included something like Christmas tree (or maybe fir?) and vanilla.

Placing the wax melt warmer in a location that is out of reach of pets is essential to avoid this risk. It's also a good idea to use a warmer with temperature control so the wax does not get too hot and causes burns. So far, I’ve burned a few of them, including both small jars and votives, and my first impressions are that while I thought I would hate the Pink Rhubarb & Pear candle, it is one of my absolute favorites to burn when I’m working, and has a great hot throw – much more than I initially expected. With these precautions, pet owners can safely enjoy the benefits of wax melts in their homes. Another consideration when using wax melts around pets is the fragrance used. The first time I saw all the Home Bargains candles was just a few weeks ago in the Edmonton Home Bargains store, and when I saw all the scented candle brands and collections there were in-store, believe me; I became all kinds of crazy. I haven’t seen that many overviews of the collection of Home Bargains candles available at the moment, so I thought I’d share with you the pictures I’ve taken at the super budget shop in London. Seasonal Scents: Carrot Cake, Wedding Bells, White Chocolate, Hot Cross Buns, Salted Caramel, Milk Chocolate

Some scents can irritate cats, especially those with sensitive respiratory systems. Generally, it's best to avoid solid and overpowering fragrances that may be overwhelming for pets. Instead, opt for milder scents that are less likely to irritate.

Be aware of your cat's behaviour: If you notice any signs of discomfort, such as sneezing, coughing, excessive scratching, or changes in breathing patterns, discontinue the use of wax melts and consult your veterinarian. Keep wax warmers out of reach: Place wax warmers in areas your cat cannot access, such as high shelves or rooms off-limits to your pet. Your cat is unique, and their reactions to scents will vary. Looking out for your cat's behaviour and well-being is a 'given'. Try to keep wax warmers out of reach of your cat's landing zone or in areas where they cannot be easily accessed. Consider the following precautions: In the Swizzels range, I’ve found very sweet, candy scented candles that I honestly did not like at all. Although I’m all for strong smells like some I’ve found in the Aldi candle aisle or the Poundstretcher candles lately, I felt the Swizzels candles smelled just, overall, fake and bad.
