Hilti and Makita are just Hilti and Makita. Hilti doesn’t have any subsidiary companies underneath them or a parent company over them. Makita, on the other hand, did acquire the Dolmar brand in 1991, bolstering its already-impressive line of outdoor power equipment tools. However, considering Makita announced it would stop making gas products in 2022, the Dolmar acquisition now seems less significant. Excel has come a long way since it was released. Every few years we see a new and improved version adding more and more capabilities. Power Pivot was the first power tool and it was released a few years before power query. Power Pivot had several options available for connecting to data. Today we kept things rather simple and connected to a linked table but having so many data sources available was the start of allowing Excel users mash up and analyse data from many different sources. And unlike excel, with these external data sources you are not limted to 1m rows. Why spend hours poring over tables of data that you have prepared, when you can use visualizations to tell its story? Power View, the second power tool addition in 2013 will allow you do just that. It will allow you create interactive dashboards to visualize the data that you have. I consider myself a high-level Excel user and often find myself reaching the outer limits of what Excel is capable of without some convoluted workaround, VBA, or writing a Python program. Power Query has the ability to merge or join tables. This can be used as an alternative to VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH formulas. Excel's ease and flexibility have long made it a tool of choice for doing data analysis, but it does have some inherent limitations: for one, truly "big" data simply does not fit in a spreadsheet and for another, the process of importing and cleaning data can be a repetitive, time-consuming and error-prone. Over the last few years, Microsoft have worked on transforming the end-to-end experience for analysts, and Excel has undergone a major upgrade with the inclusion of Power Query and Power Pivot. This experience included enhanced data import functionality, rearranged commands on the Data tab, a new Queries & Connection side pane, and the continuing ability to shape data in powerful ways by sorting, changing data types, splitting columns, aggregating the data, and so on.You can think of Excel as the factory building that houses all these tools. Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) DAX is a formula language that extends the data manipulation capabilities of Excel to enable more sophisticated and complex grouping, calculation, and analysis. The syntax of DAX formulas is very similar to that of Excel formulas.
