Description

Fusion Gun - The Fire Dragons possess an unsurpassed mastery of heat-based weapons, and take savage delight in the devastation they create. They utilise a deadly xenos Melta Weapon known as a Fusion Gun, a weapon that is unique to the Fire Dragons amongst the Asuryani. Though it can only be used at short range, it possesses a sophisticated targeting system, as befits high status troops like Aspect Warriors. Like most Aeldari technology, the weapon is psychically activated, its resonant wraithbone construction being sensitive to the Aeldari's innately psychic mind. A Fire Dragons' Fusion Gun is linked to its targeter via its handle.

Fuegan was thought lost when the Shrine of Asur was destroyed by Arhra, the Fallen Phoenix. Fuegan disappeared for many standard centuries, before reappearing during the final battle at Haranshemash, "The World of Blood and Tears" in the Aeldari Lexicon. Those familiar with the Dragon of Aeldari myth know that while its fire was deadly, those who drew close exposed themselves to its equally dangerous bite. They will be about as glass cannon as you can get with just a 5++ and 1 wound. Still, with these rules, if you can get them into range, they will burn through pretty much anything. Wounding with everything within 9″ is insane. Especially if you have the flamers as all you have to do is roll how many shots you get and bam, you’re done. When called to arms their goal is the total annihilation of their foes, to the exclusion of all else. Fire Dragons are aggressive and warlike close combat fighters who utilise heat-based weaponry to destroy enemy armoured vehicles and drive the foe from his fortified strongpoints.

Craftworlds Eldar in 9th edition

If true, I'm not sure they're going to make the cut. The increased strength on their weapons is nice. The higher toughness is nice. The invuln is nice. They're still going to get shot off the board as soon as they either unload from a transport or webway strike. Not sure they're going to be worth it for the points unless they have some solid stratagem support. With the release of the 9th edition of Warhammer 40,000, fans saw a lot of armies undergo drastic changes that meant almost having to re-learn how to play. Craftworlds Eldar have experienced the knife of rebalancing much the same as others, and without a codex available at the time of writing, there are many more changes ahead for the stalwart Aeldari. The Eldar don’t just lay claim to ground warfare, through the Swooping Hawk Aspect they master aerial combat as well. Phoenix Lord Baharroth is terror-from- the-sky incarnate, descending to deal swift justice without mercy or hesitation. Since GW has decided to give us the middle finger with overpriced Howling Banshees and whatever-it-is the Dark Eldars got, I've decided to list all the decent proxies one could find on the Internet (or at least all I know about), in case it may help someone get the minis he wants. Those Craftworld Aeldari who wanted to follow this new path learned at the feet of their master, and in turn they assumed the mantle of Exarchs before spreading throughout the galaxy. The first Exarchs, the Asurya, the children of Asurmen, were the greatest of his students and went on to become the Phoenix Lords of the other Aspect Shrines, the first masters of the other specialised Asuryani combat disciplines.

The founder of the Fire Dragons, Phoenix Lord Fuegan exists only to vent his rage on his foes in the form of terrifying billows of flame. With thousands of years of experience of war, Fuegan is a terrifying foe on the battlefield, striding forth to setall to fire and ruin in his quest to destroy the enemies of the Aeldari. But, is this “guaranteed” kill a good idea? Is trading 1 for 1 or 1 for 2 worth it in the overall scope of the game? Consider this: You zip your tank up and the Fire Dragons get out exploding said land land raider. What now? Your opponent can’t afford to loose another unit from those ‘dragons so they are going to get shot up and die, and in the process you may even loose the grav tank that ferried them since it is now next to your opponent’s core. In many ways it is Fuegan who most embodies the Aspect Warriors' obsession with their deadly craft. He devotes himself completely to the systematic and total persecution of the Aeldari race's enemies, pitilessly culling them one by one until their deaths form an unbroken chain of retribution stretching across the universe. Finally, you’ll want your units to stay alive. We’d recommend a Wave Serpent for this. A dedicated transport ship that’s equipped with a shield, its durability will keep all cargo in its levitating troop belly happy. Firepike - Fuegan is armed with a massive, elongated fusion-based weapon known as a Firepike. These fusion weapons cause the molecules of the target to hyper-vibrate, generating so much heat that their targets burst into flames before suddenly liquefying and then evaporating into nothingness.

RUMORS: Spicy New 40k Eldar Fire Dragons Rules

If that type of roll involves more than one D6 (e.g. a Psychic test), treat one of those dice as an unmodified roll of 6 (do not roll that dice), then roll any other dice and add up the results as normal. With safety and the vast resources of the Eldar Empire, the Aeldari became insular. They ceased looking outwards for new inspiration, preferring to explore their desires and hedonistic impulses. The Eldar Empire became darker; twisted needs and terrible acts becoming commonplace as they slaked their lusts on each other and the many lesser races that populated the galaxy. As befits their shrine's tactical focus, the Fire Dragons' Exarchs are masters of destroying enemy strongholds, well-armoured troops or emplaced weapons. Exarchs often have versed their squad in the art of stalking armoured vehicles and being able to spot weak points in their armour with uncanny speed. Many Craftworlds Eldar characters are legends not only to the Eldar, but their names strike fear into their enemies’ hearts (if they have them).

The Aeldari believe that, with this chain, Fuegan intends to bind the Dragon at the end of days, though such a feat would mean mastery over destruction itself. The eventual fate of Fuegan is foretold in the last stanza of the Asuryata, the legend of the Phoenix Lords, known in full only to the Bards of Twilight. Fuegan established the shrine of the Fire Dragons when the Asurya spread across the galaxy to teach the Eldar the Path of the Warrior. It was his hope that the Eldar could bring harmony through selective destruction rather then oblivion as a force that could only bring discord. He is respected as a hero across many Craftworlds, often depicted holding the cosmic serpents of wisdom and entropy in his grasp. In many ways Fuegan most embodies the Aspect Warriors obsession with their deadly craft, devoting himself completely to the systematic and total destruction of the Eldar's enemies. Pitilessly destroying the enemies of the Eldar in an unbroken chain across the Galaxy, the Eldar believe that, with this chain, Fuegan intends to bind the Dragon at the end of days, mastering destruction itself. It is said that Fuegan will call together the Phoenix Lords for the Rhana Dandra, the final conflict, and that he will be the last to die. [2] Fuegan learned the arts of war in the Shrine of Asur, under the eyes of Asurmen in that distant time, many Terran millennia ago, when the Warrior Aspects were first born. When the Asurya made their way across the galaxy, it was Fuegan who founded the shrines of the Fire Dragon upon the craftworlds -- the Warrior Aspect whose teachings advocate the utter annihilation of the enemy so that their demise is assured beyond all doubt. In this role each Fire Dragon wields a potent Fusion Gun, capable of reducing an enemy to a cloud of superheated vapour in a second, or a battle tank into a pile of molten slag. Against targets too formidable to be damaged by even these fearsome weapons, the Fire Dragons carry Melta Bombs, disc-shaped fusion-based explosives which can be attached to any surface and detonated on command. In one notable incident, a Rogue Trader in the Calixis Sector found out first hand how treacherous the Aeldari can be when he arranged a meeting with a particularly elusive Autarch on the desiccated ruins of the world of Jerazol. The Rogue Trader left his Aquila Lander in a sheltered vale for the meeting, only to have his negotiating position severely weakened with its fiery destruction moments later. We’ve seen a ton of rules rumors for the Eldar, but we haven’t seen a ton for the Fire Dragons quite yet. So, it’s good to get an idea of what they can do. Obviously, since the book isn’t out yet, these are rumors, still, they look pretty legit. Fire Dragons take an unbridled, savage delight in the destruction they cause, and nothing short of the complete annihilation of the enemy will satisfy these embodiments of war's capacity for wanton destruction. Fire Dragons specialise in assaulting enemy war machines and fixed fortifications, as well as rooting out heavily-armoured infantry and weapon emplacements. The Burning Wing Shrine - The Aspect Warriors of the Burning Wing rarely enter battle without Wave Serpent support, enabling them to visit swift destruction upon foes anywhere on the battlefield.

This permanent acceptance of the Aeldari's "war mask" provides Exarchs with enhanced skill and dedication to their craft and entitles them to access their Aspect Shrine's oldest and most advanced wargear. Even without a codex of their own, Craftworlds Eldar have undergone some rapid developments following Games Workshop’s drive to encourage armies to play to their strengths. There are a ton of Warlord Traits to select in 9th edition, with the absolute best being reserved for Custom Craftworlds. They get access to Expert Crafters, simply one of the best Warlord Traits available to Eldar players. With it, you’ll get to re-roll one hit and one wound roll each time a unit shoots or fights. That means your damage just got an incredible buff, giving you the ability to chip away at your foe with impunity. What: Warpspiders (+Phoenixlord), Firedragons (male & female), Fuegan, Bonesingers, Striking Scorpions, Karandras, Banshees, Jain Zar, Farseer, Rangers, Illic Nightspear, Dark Reapers Building your own Craftworlds Eldar army, regardless of how you play them on the battlefield, is a pure joy. Eldar models are delicate, beautifully balanced, and can veer into the territory of artwork when painted right. Any Eldar army you build will bring you deep pleasure to simply look at, and that’s something that can’t be understated when approaching an army.

Craftworlds Eldar Lore

Next you’ll want to bring a taste of death to the field. Dark Reapers are ideal for this, given they’re able to shoot at a huge distance, and have some of the best ranged stats in the entire game. In addition, their Fire and Fade ability means they can pop in and out of cover with ease. This boosts their survivability, making them a true thorn in your opponent’s side.
