We also have the interesting cast of characters of Jenny, Hubert and Joan. I've already said that Joan looks to be a bit too old to be the daughter of Frank, plus there's this odd interactions between them. It is possible though, as there's a gap of 19 years. Joan actually knows these two hippies and there's an interesting angle where Hubert admits to the crime, but it doesn't turn out to be possible. He and Jenny though still know something. I also like that the title of the movie is stated by Hubert and it makes a lot of sense why as it involves drugs. Having now watched this film, I have to say, this doesn't necessarily fit into what I expect from Fulci. I don't mean that in a bad way by any stretch, because I could argue this is proof that he's a great filmmaker for sure. My other thing is that when it comes to a giallo film, if I can't guess the ending, I'm happy. That applies here. Scales protect the body of the snake, aid it inlocomotion, allow moisture to be retained within and give simple or complex coloration patterns which help in camouflage and antipredator display. In some snakes, scales have been modified over time to serve other functions such as those of “‘eyelash” fringes, and the most distinctive modification—the rattle of the North American rattlesnakes. The snakes also use scales for different types of movement because they have lost their limbs through the evolution process [ 22]. A mentally unbalanced woman tells her therapist about a recent dream involving her neighbor. In the dream, Carol Hammond (Florinda Bolkan) violently murders her neighbor. A few days later, the neighbors body is found. Suspicion immediately falls on Carol - her fingerprints are on the knife, her scarf is on the body, and her fur coat is on the floor. Was it a dream or did Carol really commit murder?

In the office the next day, Edmond gets a phone call and as Frank is leaving, asks if he has been unfaithful to his daughter. He laughs off the accusation and leaves. It is storming that night and we see that he is in fact cheating on her with someone. That night, Carol has another vivid dream where she murders Julia. We also get an odd image of Jenny (Penny Brown) and Hubert (Mike Kennedy) who are watching from a balcony. Their eyes are white and it should be pointed out they're hippies. The lizards do not have an external ear; however, in some species, they have a fold of the skin and tympanic membrane that can be seen from the side on the head in a shallow recess. This membrane is covered by a thin membrane in some species that is also changed in the process of ecdysis. Hamasaki DI. Properties of the parietal eye of the green iguana. Vision Research. 1968; 8(5):591-599Set in London, the film follows Carol Hammond (Bolkan), the daughter of a respected politician, who experiences a series of vivid, psychedelic nightmares consisting of debauched sex orgies and LSD use. In the dream, she commits a graphic murder of a neighbour whose life she is envious of (Strindberg) and awakes to a real-life criminal investigation into the murder of her neighbour. Shedding the Skin (33:50, SD) – This 2005 retrospective featurette was directed by Gavin and was originally included with Shriek Show’s original two-disc DVD. Hosted by actress Penny Brown, it covers the early history of giallo and Fulci, leading up to the release of Lizard in a Woman’s Skin. It includes interviews with stars Florinda Bolkan, Jean Sorel, and Mike Kennedy, and makeup artists Franco Di Girolamo and Carlo Rambaldi. Carol is married to Frank (Jean Sorel). I do believe he has a daughter Joan (Ely Galleani). What throws me off here is that Frank doesn't look old enough to have a daughter this young, but I digress. Frank works with Carol's father, Edmond Brighton (Leo Genn). Through a scene at dinner where Carol, Joan, Frank, his secretary Deborah (Silvia Monti) and Edmond, we hear that Julia is having a loud party. This really bothers Carol and her father. As Edmond goes to leave, he notices a car outside that is painted flashy.

Carol's dreams continue which become more complicated during scenes that appear to be dreams or hallucinations. Describing her latest one to her psychoanalyst, they depict a lesbian encounter between the two women, culminating in Carol grisly stabbing the seductive Julia to death. In an enigmatic coda to the dream sequence, Carol sees two kaftan-clad hippies who have apparently witnessed the whole thing without intervening. Snakes are carnivorous reptiles with highly mobile jaws, which enable them to swallow prey much larger than they are. They are legless (some species retain a pelvic girdle) and have an elongated body, this means that paired organs appear one in front of other and they only have one functional lung. Some species have venom, used primarily to kill prey. Their skin is covered in scales and snakes are not slimy [ 2]. Lizards are quadrupedal squamates, except some legless, snake-like-bodied species. Often, they are territorial and have many antipredator strategies, such as camouflage, venom, reflex bleeding, and the ability to destroy and then regenerate their tails after destruction. They are covered in overlapping keratin scales, enabling them to live in the driest deserts on the earth [ 3, 4]. Several things in the movie really worked for me. Chief among them is the ending. The last 20 or so minutes of the movie are a mystery lovers dream. Every single character comes under suspicion of having committed the murder. And there are plenty of suspects - Carol, her husband, her daughter, her father, the hippie, and anyone else who has more than 5 minutes of screen time. It wouldn't have surprised me had the police detective arrested himself. Just when you believe you've got it all figured out, the spotlight shifts to someone else. It's not until the very last moments of the movie that everything becomes clear.Lucio Fulci's A Lizard in a Woman's Skin is a very solid giallo but not the best from him. Working with a decent script and some solid actors, Fulci creates a truly bizarre mood with some nifty visuals and makes for quite a unique viewing experience. The hallucinations/dream sequences are well done, creepy and suspenseful and set the tone for an original mystery that unfolds mostly well and peppered with some solid set pieces along the way, two of which involve mutilated dogs and an array of nasty bats.

Lizard in a Woman's Skin is a trippy hippy early-70s thriller which sees a woman accused of murdering her promiscuous neighbour. In typical giallo fashion, nothing is quite as it seems, until the final scene when the truth is divulged. Once again I believe that I am destined never to be a Fulci fan, finding the film rather dull and extremely dated. Reminds me of latter day Ken Russell; as much a I loved his films, some of his late-career outings felt too self-consciously weird. This is an interesting film in the red herrings make sense and even though I know when they make something obvious, it isn't the answer. This movie plays with that and still got me like I said. To start off with, I liked our lead in Carol. My immediate thoughts with her are that she is sexually repressed. She has lesbian urges toward Julia, but with society and her standing, she denies them which cause her dreams to be as they are. There's a reveal with her later in the movie, which was quite interesting with the evidence we are given.Bauer AM, Kluge AG, Schuett G. Lizards. In: Halliday A, Adler K, editors. The Firefly Encyclopedia of Reptiles and Amphibians. Ontario: Firefly Books; 2002. pp. 139-169 The lizard’s skin is specific due to scales that form dense tight rows. Lizard scales vary in form from tubercular to plate-like or even largely overlapping each other in formation. The scales originate from the epidermal superficial layer of the skin and form keratinized wrinkles and may have bony plates underlying them ( osteoderms). They are very close to each other, and links between them allow them to move in all directions. In lizards, scales can vary in form and be modified into crests, spikes, or horns, depending on the type of lizard and on the body part of the lizard and are often of use in taxonomically differentiating species. On the head and on the ventral part, scales are plate-shaped. Scales are important to prevent water loss from the body, as well as to protect the body from injury, because the lizards touch the ground with the ventral surface of the body and thus damage the skin. The skin in the lizard does not follow the growth of the body, so they have to change it, which does not happen in one piece but in several smaller pieces [ 14]. I only remember when the film was released as "Lizard"...I wonder when and in what markets it became "Schizoid" (It's like how I can only remember that Julie Andrews disaster "Star!" when it came out; i don't recall when they released it as "Those Were the Happy Times"- terrible title!)
