Description

This is due to language, nudity, sex, and other mature topics on display throughout the five-part series. They fight for white rights and men’s rights, which is why it was a big deal when they finally managed to get a white man to be president. If this is the first you’re hearing about the new history mockumentary series about a “historian” tracing the steps (and missteps) of human civilization, or if you’ve seen it on your home page but don’t know what it’s about, worry not, because we’re about to break down a few things to know before you watch the new series, including its tone, episode count, and other details to keep in mind.

I think it’s probably the only encyclopaedia I’ll ever read and was quite glad for it including Brush Strokes as I’d seen Cunks references in her TV shows but had no idea what it was about and now I don’t have to look it up on the internet.

Thank you to Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the eArc of this book in exchange for an honest review! In 2019, she wrote, directed, and starred in the BBC2 comedy short Mandy, described as "a comedy by Diane Morgan about Mandy, a woman who really, really wants a sofa, and will stop at absolutely nothing to get it". To get the disclaimer out of the way: not many things are funnier than watching some poor subject-matter expert trying to contain themself while "Philomena Cunk" conducts one of her deranged interviews, so the fact that this book -- a sort of encyclopedia according to Cunk -- doesn't quite work as a book shouldn't discourage anyone from checking out her Instagram and YouTube videos. I first became acquainted with the unhinged genius that is Philomena Cunk through her TV series, Cunk on Earth, and this utterly bonkers book with Philomena's take on - well, EVERYTHING - did not disappoint. These episodes start with “In the Beginnings,” a retracing of early man’s first steps, and conclude with “War(s) of the World(s)?

But if they’re wrong and climate change is happening, we face the nightmare scenario that our children may never see a rainbow. Philomena Cunk ( Diane Morgan) travels around the world, interviewing (real-world) experts such as Paul Bahn, Martin Kemp, Nigel Spivey, and Shirley Thompson about world history.Books like this usually feel cobbled together from out-takes and flotsam that couldn't be used elsewhere, but this is a fairly coherent work with a lot of very strong one-liners.
