An OUN can’t be used for more than eight days in a calendar year for any one venue. Using proceeds for fundraising If third parties are selling goods or services at your event, for example if someone is selling refreshments, this does not count as money raised for the charity or good cause and can be retained by that third party.

In horse racing, you have odds 2/1, 10/1 etc. The more likely that a horse is to win, the shorter the odds (i.e. the favourite will have lower odds than the outsider). If motorbike racing games are more your style, there’s an extensive collection of bike games for you to browse. More Racing Games A race night is an event where participants stake money on the outcome of recorded races. The money raised from the event is called “the proceeds”.

Because the betting is being used for fundraising, it doesn't matter if the bets taken is held at that venue. The sporting event where the bets are taken also doesn't need to be taking place at the same time as the betting under the OUN. You can run a race night as an incidental lottery. This means the activity takes place at, but isn’t the main feature of, another event.

Your race night must comply with the 2005 Gambling Act. To do this, we advise you to do the following:Used by clubs and companies in a venue or friends and family at home. You can run this type of event as a traditional race night, betting with actual money but making a 90% payout and a 10% donation to your chosen charity or good cause. You can tweak the payouts and donation by simply agreeing on your own percentage. You can approach local businesses, as well as national companies and individuals, to see if they would like to sponsor a race (just like they do at a real racecourse!) Once everyone is connected on Zoom, the event starts with a two minute video setting the stage and explaining how to play. The game is very simple, with each player having a choice of only three actions. However, deciding how and when to take your actions, coordinating them with your teammates and reacting to what the other teams are doing, affects the outcome of the race and means no two games are ever the same. The winners collect their prize money which is usually 50% of the total bets taken with the other 50% going to the chosen charity or good cause (the percentage can be altered depending on your requirements). To run this kind of race night, players must be told before playing what good cause will benefit from the profits of the race.

You don’t need a licence for this kind of race night. However, you can’t use private gaming for fundraising. You can’t charge any entry fees Reasonable costs include any costs reasonably incurred e,g. by providing any prizes and for betting slips. The virtual horse racing night incudes a fun interactive host / bookie, superb racing software with enhanced graphics and fun race commentary, a Zoom link to pass to your guests and of course our exceptional customer service. How is the Virtual Horse Racing run on the night? Lynda Stoddart, Chestnut Tree House, Littlehampton A Great time was had by All – Would recommend this Company

None of the following exemptions for these forms of gambling can be carried out remotely, for example over the internet or social media. This kind of fundraising event can only take place at sports venues under an occasional use notice (OUN). The OUN allows the licensed bookmaker to provide betting facilities at the sports venue for a short period of time. Before the race night
