For the first time, Fable found herself truly alone, with nobody to care for her. She had recently lost her Mother, as well, during a terrible storm. I loved Heather soooooo much. She’s determined, fierce and an excellent friend. She showed me how she embraces her individuality and fights for her beliefs. She also has her own way on what and who to believe which is why she’s an excellent protagonist in this book. There are too many things to learn from her. It's been a while since I had a likable character and Heather did not disappoint me. In a classic Pepper Winter's style, another cliffhanger but this time I am left afraid of what will happen next. I don't have any theories of what will happen, all I know is that I NEED BOOK 3 asap! Thank you to Bloomsbury Children’s Books & Beatrice Cross for an early read of this fascinating book!

There is an amazing woman who has been in publishing for years and she’s a writer herself, called Jasmine Richards. Four years ago she set up her company, StoryMix. Listen well and listen close, because here is the cutting reality of a trader’s life: it is “a constant game of strategy,” a “never-ending maneuvering to get ahead” and an “insatiable hunger to want more. More coin. More ships. More crews.” Because “in the Narrows, nothing was what it seemed. Every truth was twisted. Every lie carefully constructed.” Yes, I just used a bunch of quotes to explain what I couldn’t word better, because no one can show the duplicity and slipperiness of this life, the inability to truly trust anything in it, better and more finely than Young herself. Reading Kas and Gem's story is NOT for weak hearted...that's for sure. The angst level is top notch and the dark themes...my God...Author Winters really deserves the Queen of Dark Romance Crown when she let's go...and believe me...in this book...she really did let go of the darkness. Fable has everything you could want in a heroine. She’s clever and skilled, but not infallible. She’s easy to root for and easier to become invested in. Her dynamic with the crew of the Marigold is one of the best things about this book. If you were a fan of the group-heist storyline from Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom, I think you’ll enjoy this. Fable is a much more grounded fantasy than anything out of the Grishaverse, there’s no magic shooting out of people’s hands, but the same kind of camaraderie and not-always-gentle ribbing is present between the characters. And the inevitable plotting the occurs is always fun to follow along with.

Publisher

Pepper is a Hybrid Author of both Traditional and Self-published work. Her Pure Corruption Series was released by Grand Central, Hachette. For seventeen-year-old Fable, the daughter of the most powerful trader in the Narrows, the sea is the only home she has ever known. It’s been four years since the night she watched her mother drown during an unforgiving storm. The next day her father abandoned her on a legendary island filled with thieves and little food. To survive she must keep to herself, learn to trust no one, and rely on the unique skills her mother taught her. The only thing that keeps her going is the goal of getting off the island, finding her father, and demanding her rightful place beside him and his crew. To do so Fable enlists the help of a young trader named West to get her off the island and across the Narrows to her father. I didn't like the writing of this book. This was my first by Adrienne Young, but I think I will still give her another chance. Fablehouse is an inspiring story of identity, friendship and strength. Heather learns that there is nothing to be gained in running away – she can only help if she stays. Finding that place worth fighting for means everything to her. Children of today may not be battling faeries or uncovering Arthurian legend but many will see themselves in this story. A longing to find a place where we belong, a longing to be accepted for who we are, a longing to stop running and rest in love is universal and so very real in this story.

When an author brings their own experiences to a story there is the chance that it is going to be somewhat exceptional. Real life experiences are a fantastic basis for creating stories. For E.L. Norry it is her experiences from having been through the care system that inspired this story bringing authenticity to this extraordinary adventure. Fable House is an empowering story that shows all children there is somewhere they belong, where they can own their own history and identity. Inspired by Holnicote House in Somerset, once home to Britain’s Brown Babies, this magical adventure, steeped in Arthurian legend is a mythological celebration which makes heroes of children who are often left on the outskirts of society. After you donate 9 books you get a Bright Wizard Hat or a Dark Wizard Hat, depending on which book you donated. Pay attention to what books you donate if you want a particular reward. And just when you think something good might happen, some twat messes it up!! That being said, there is a major cliffhanger, which is fine. Now she enlists the help of young trader named West to get off the island but more she spends her time in ship Marigold, more she connects with the crew: they literally turn into her own family she never truly had. As soon as she realizes her father’s rivalries are bigger threat for her life and West isn’t the person who he seems, only way to survive against the treacherous storm threatens the Narrows is becoming a team.a wandering beauty found an abandoned and secluded mansion called fable in the middle of nowhere, occupied by a lonely beast of a man. She trespassed unknowing the danger lies ahead".

Pepper Winters has a way to make you live on your own skin what she writes, that still amaze me, and I can’t help but crave her books because for a little time she make me forget everything, while her stories remain etched on your mind. Our war was deleted. This never-ending loneliness. This inability to be happy… to be free. I couldn’t live without her. I loved her and that was the worst thing I could ever do.”The Story: There was a huge cliffhanger at the end of book 1, right at a critical point in the story. Now Gemma has to decide if she wants to stay with Kassen or return to her life as a millionaire social media sensation with a mother and brother who are most likely very worried about her.
