With the Reds, he has won the Champions League trophy, the Premier League title (marking the first time in 30 years for the club) and, this season, the double win of the FA Cup and League Cup. The writing is often repetitive (in language and in content), and overall the book is pretty superficial, rarely going into much depth. He is the only footballer to be named England Player of the Year twice, for the under 21s and then on the senior squad. The book also tracks his progress on Merseyside, from struggling to settle under his first manager Sir Kenny Dalglish, to Brendan Rodgers handing him the armband following Steven Gerrard’s departure, and eventually those multiple major honours and successes under current boss Jürgen Klopp.

There was shockingly few pages around his upbringing and time at Sunderland, and the whole book felt quite rushed (the letters on the pages are huge, so the 300-pages does not contain that many stories). He is the only player in history to have been named England Player of the Year at both under-21 and senior level. Full of heartache, excitement and triumph, this is a candid insight into the life of a top-flight footballer as you've never heard before. Head of non-fiction Dan Bunyard acquired world rights from Rory Scarfe at the Blair Partnership on behalf of Tyler Alexander-Arnold at Status Creative management. Under his captaincy, Liverpool have reached monumental heights - winning six trophies headed by the Champions League and the Premier League, bringing the club its first league title in 30 years. This book sets out why: a player who struggled with criticism and self-doubt, yet made himself the best he could be, ending up captaining Liverpool to every trophy available to them.

Also could not stop laughing at the story of Trent’s mum not allowing him to get a tattoo after winning the champions league (despite it being Trent’s idea) or Hendo’s recollection of Virgil first arriving at Anfield looking a million dollars (“even his hair was perfect and I thought to myself, ‘He’s got to be good. Off the field he is a fearless ambassador, with his role in backing the NHS following his work during the COVID-19 pandemic and unifying players across the Premier League to support NHS Charities Together.Through injury and setbacks, both personal and professional, what emerges is the story of someone who frequently battled against the odds as well as his critics to achieve success for his club and supporters, someone for whom a passion for the game and for his team never wavered. The story of Jordan's journey from Sunderland to Liverpool, and becoming one of the most successful football leaders England has seenBorn in Sunderland, Jordan Henderson began his football career there before moving to Liverpool in 2011. Transferred to Liverpool in June 2011, Jordan's early years at the club saw him struggle to settle under Sir Kenny Dalglish then Brendan Rodgers before eventually establishing himself at Anfield as a force of nature in midfield. charts his career of more than a decade and counting at Anfield from when he first signed for the Reds in 2011, a spell that has included 463 appearances and seven trophies so far during his tenure as captain.

This was a brilliantly emotive book from start to finish and an interesting insight into his life, career, and dreams. Henderson began playing for Liverpool in 2011, before taking over as captain from Steven Gerrard in 2015. From taking the reins from Steven Gerrard as Liverpool captain,to lifting the Champions League trophy and winning the Premier League, his years as a leader have been more eventful than entire careers. In this book, Jordan charts his decade-long journey with the Reds, and a behind-the-scenes look at his life both on and off the pitch. In this unflinching autobiography, Jordan takes us from his footballingroots in Sunderland to the heat of the dressing room at Anfield.Very well written, focusing on the important parts and very respectful to the other players and managers he's worked with.

In this book, Jordan charts his decade-long journey with the Reds, the challenges on and off the pitch, and how he established himself as one of the greatest footballers of our time. Whether his focus is on himself, on crucial moments during games or behind the scenes, or in exploring the impacts of the pandemic and politics on football over the last few years, there is a consistent honesty and insight which makes it a fascinating and inspiring book to read.Jordan Henderson, MBE, is one of football's highest-profile players and has captained Liverpool FC since 2015.
