Description

The following three simple rules will ensure that the sling is not overloaded. In some cases this will mean that the sling will be under utilised although this is unlikely to hinder the user unduly. Where the maximum utilisation is required reference should be made to a Competent Person who understands the factors involved and who can perform the necessary calculations. (1) For straight lift never exceed the marked SWL and in the case of multi-leg slings the specified angle or range of angles. (2) When using slings in choke hitch multiply the marked SWL by 0.8 to obtain the reduced maximum load the sling may lift ie reduce the safe working load by 20%. (3) With multi-leg slings, when using less than the full number of legs, reduce the maximum load in proportion to the number of legs in use. Simply multiply the marked SWL by the number of legs in use expressed as a fraction of the total thus: one leg of a two leg sling = ½ marked SWL, three legs of a four leg sling = ¾ marked SWL and so on. Operative Training We also offer the Protector 13mm and 11mm chains for situations where the largest chains are too big, too bulky, or simply unnecessary. The Electrophoretic process has the advantage over zinc plating as it does not cause hydrogen embrittlement, which zinc plated chains are extremely susceptible to

Capacity - the sling must be both long enough and strong enough for the load and the slinging method.Don't mean to sound funny but we've hung out in some pretty snowy areas (France, Canada) and would always go with decent winter tyres. Chains are for really mad conditions without winter tyres or perhaps unusual loads with no weight on the drive axle. The following information is based on Section 1 - Appendix 1.5 of the LEEA Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Lifting Equipment.* It should be read in conjunction with the instructions for the safe use, given overleaf, of which it forms an integral part and with any specific instructions issued by the supplier. This information is of a general nature only covering the main points for the safe use of various types of slings for general lifting purposes. ALWAYS: The Protector 16mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 132 x 62mm outside; 100 x 30mm inside, throughout its length (an elongated end link is not required). It is constructed from 16mm diameter bar. The smallest rectangular hole it will fit through is about 62 x 34mm, but that would also be a tight fit. It is again fitted with a protective fabric sleeve, usually a bronze colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above). Also available as a Noose Chain - see below. There are videos on the Internet showing inferior, invariably Far Eastern-produced, chains being cut in seconds with bolt croppers, but you won`t see our Protector chains being bolt-cropped - and that’s guaranteed!

Sold Secure Motorcycle/Caravan/ATV/Motor Scooter/Bicycle/Commercial Vehicles/Car & Van Gold Police Preferred Specification By encouraging good design and practice, SBD aims to reduce the demand on police forces and help us all live in a safer society.Chain slings are available in a range of material grades, sizes and assemblies. Select the slings to be used and plan the lift taking the following into account: Thieves frequently use enormous, heavy duty Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers as their tool of choice, but our Protector 16mm chains have proven impossible to crop even with this powerful tool. In fact, if you keep trying to crop one of these chains, it is likely to be the jaws of the bolt croppers that break! Plan the lift, establish the weight of the load and prepare the landing area ensuring that it will take the weight. Position hooks of multi-leg slings facing outward from the load. Do not lift on the point of the hook and ensure that the chain is not twisted or knotted. Note: The chain fittings show above are the more popular hooks and leg length adjusters types. Chain sling assemblies can be supplied with alternative fittings in Grade 8, Grade 10 or Grade 12 to suit your requirements...

Except where special provision is made, do not allow anyone to pass under or ride upon the load. The area should be kept clear. Work Load Limit (WLL) is the maximum load which the chains are designed to sustain in lifting use. The mean stress at this load is 200n/mm2 (MPA) and is based on a 4:1 factor of safety. Available in sizes 0.8 to 6.0m, we’ve tested the 1.5m Pragmasis 16mm chain, which comes with a tough fabric sleeve, zip-tied at both ends, to protect your bike. These sleeves do hold water if used in the rain, so carry a plastic bag if you need to transport it. The Grade 8 chain is embossed with manufacturer's mark and grade (MA8) and class leading batch code traceability. Not content with the standard industry case hardening, Almax have developed a unique process that reverses the undesired side effect of through hardening. Which allows us to retain much of the metals original ductility. This gives the Almax Series chains some unique advantages. This is largely down to the high grade European raw material used for their manufacture and the specialist and precise heat treatment process evolved over several years. You simply can`t buy better! In the case of multi-leg slings the angle between the legs should not be less than 30° or exceed the maximum marked. Further information is given in: ** HSE Guidance Note PM 39 - Hydrogen Embrittlement of Grade T Chain .* The Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Lifting Equipment, published by: LEEA GENERAL PURPOSE SLINGING PRACTICE The links are covered with a protective and reflective material sleeve - visible so that any would-be thief will spot the Nemesis and find another target.

These high grade Protector 16mm, 19mm, 22mm Titan and 25mm Titan chains really are impossible to bolt-crop by hand. The thieves use Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers as their tool of choice. They are expensive, but of course they don't always buy them... The Protector 16mm and 19mm and 22mm and 25mm chains are all impossible to crop even with this powerful tool. Indeed, if you keep trying to crop one of these chains, it is likely to be the jaws of the bolt croppers that break! If you are considering a chain from another manufacturer, ask if they will guarantee it as impossible to crop with Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers. New: The Protector 25mm Titan Chain! Our Protector 22mm Titan chain was the first product to achieve the Sold Secure Motorcycle Diamond standard. It has now been superseded with the Protector 25mm Titan chain! Even tougher! Absolutely massive and only recommended for exceptional situations or where a succession of thefts have defeated lesser chains. All general purpose slings should be rated by the uniform load method as shown in the table below. Chain Size The Protector 16mm chain is guaranteed impossible to bolt crop by hand, which is a great reassurance if you are looking to use it to secure high value items or equipment such as motorcycles, ATVs, caravans, etc. If choosing a ground anchor to use with your chain, choose one with a minimum aperture of around 65mm, as the sleeved chain is unlikely to fit easily through a smaller hole.Minimum Breaking Load (M.B.L.) is the minimum force which chain or components must withstand before failure. The mean stress at this load is 800n/mm2 (MPA). The minimum elongation before failure is 20%.
