So yes, the seat unit is a bit open, but as I did my research, I must say I've found out that this is how it goes with the reversible type of strollers, unfortunately. 😔 Yes, there is a short-ish canopy, but nothing worse than those of Moon ReSea Sport, Cybex, Mamas&Papas, Oyster 3, EasyGo Optimo, and other I was considering... On the contrary, these (and others) often had even smaller canopies, and what is more, much weaker suspension than the Versatrax.
