In his free time, Shane loves going for runs and playing with his 16-year-old beagle Butterscotch. This has also allowed him to meet some of his favorite filmmakers/actors like Mike Flanagan, Matthew Lillard, John Carpenter, Grace Caroline Curry, Steve Burns and Kathryn Newton. Another highlight is a 45-min conversation between Hooper and fellow master of horror William Friedkin that preceded a 40th anniversary screening presented by Cinefamily in Los Angeles. Hooper is reserved compared to the gregarious Exorcist director, but it’s a treat to hear the two old friends candidly chat about the movie that, as Friedkin puts it, “transcends the genre.”

The film will arrive in the 4K restored version, complemented by a frightening array of bonus materials, on February 28, 2023. some extent these shows have always looked a more than a little blown-out, HDR only exacerbates this problem and even introduces a bit of decibels but simultaneously detracts from whatever's left of its documentary-style ambitions. Dark Sky’s 4K Ultra HD of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is the finest release of the film state-side to date. Turbine Medien and Second Sight may offer even more bells and whistles, but Dark Sky has a very nice budget release option for those looking for great quality, but not one that will break the bank.
