I don’t think I can say too much about this one without giving away too much of the plot - I went in completely blind and think you all should do as well. If you’d like trigger warnings please DM as this book does explore some serious topics ☺️ June: "All through my schooldays I often thought and confessed I was a boy. I got strange feeling I was a boy under all my female assets. It’s as though I’d been a boy first in my life." The story is told from both Core and Margo’s perspectives, moving from one to the other between the chapters. These two sisters are very different and you are drawn to both. They share their story with you leaving you amazed at the different opinions they have. The author draws you into these sisters’ world beautifully with this original story. L V Matthews writes a compelling tale, I am eager to read more of her work. She started a blog that became a book, and she answers the questions identical twin parents have the minute they find out they are expecting two.

The twin turtles in this book are confused because they are twins but they don’t look alike. They’re told that it’s because they’re fraternal twins but they misunderstand and hear ‘fraturtle.’ They guide fathers through the pregnancy and the first year, focusing on specific ways they can release their super hero in service to their family. Overview: Okay so...this book surprised he hell out of me. There I was enjoying a great story between twins who are completely different with a bit of a mystery thrown in and then...BAM! That twist happens and I'm left with my jaw hanging. And I don't know why I didn't see it coming because it's a similar twist to my own psychological thriller series! Completely amazing and thoroughly enjoyable read. Bancroft, Colette (2 November 2019). "Chaos is all in the family in Eoin Colfer's new novel". The Tampa Bay Times . Retrieved 2 November 2019.

Something I found interesting is that June was maybe trans but the author and all involved act like the chest binding both did and June's feelings re: being male were just part of a Peter Pan desire to not grow up. Have you ever wished you had a doctor available to help you answer the questions you have about parenting multiples? Well, now you do! Gallo, Meredith; Pasturel, Ciera (2 December 2019). "The best books of 2019". The Chicago Tribune . Retrieved 2 December 2019. Thrillers lovers...read this book! You won't be disappointed. Also thanks to L.V. Matthews for chatting to me about this book when I finished it Varian Johnson’s new graphic novel is simply a delight! I loved following Maureen and Francine — and am really hoping we get a few more books about them. I would love to follow them all the way to high school! Twins is a sensitive look at the search for identity especially common for identical twins who want to be their own person while still preserving their unbreakable bond with their closest relative and friend. This book also highlights common middle school struggles, crushes, and navigating life in a blended family, but the main theme is the joy of sisterhood. I would highly recommend it to graphic novel lovers and rookies alike — it reads beautifully on an iPad too!

Margo is a solitary live-in nanny for an upper-class Kensingon family. Cora is a promiscuous dancer on the cusp of a big break, living hand-to-mouth in a run-down London flat. Outside of the character development of Maureen and Francine, there are some interesting subplots that deal with friendships, possibilities of romantic relationships, self-confidence, and even some heavy social topics like racial discrimination. Johnson did an amazing job finding a balance with all of these topics while also making them feel realistic. They are scenarios that are true to the sixth grade experience. And these experiences were not kept exclusive to Maureen and Francine; readers get the opportunity to see some of these themes play out with secondary characters. Everything about the plot was well-balanced and wrapped up very nicely in the end. For over ten years L V Matthews worked both in domestic and international sales for major UK publishing houses, before leaving to pursue a career in writing. This comic was everything I didn't even know I needed. I know I say this a lot, but it’s true. I was expecting something completely different. I was expecting a silly battle between twins. I got so much more. It was a coming of age story. It was a web of family secrets! Buahahaha!! Not that dramatic. They were all white lies. All told to “protect” the other family member. But at the end of the day any secret no matter how well intentioned is still a secret and hurts. It was wholesome and sweet. It also talked about some strong middle school problems like, who do you sit with during lunch? Little small things that make middle school a scary emotional place. I also loved the teachers. After that, Maureen goes for president of student council, a position she KNOWS Francine is wanting and gunning for. Things devolve from there. That’s my list of children’s books for twins! I’ll do an updated on someday on the best twin books for older children. I remember loving the Sweet Valley Twins series as a preteen, and I think it would be so fun if my twin girls enjoyed reading them when they’re older. The twins June and Jennifer Gibbons were sentenced to indefinite detention (life imprisonment) in Broadmoor, a notorious institution for the criminally insane. Broadmoor then used a most powerful tranquilizing drug and showed them who was boss. By the same author as “Bathtime For Twins,” this book is all about twins being friends and playing together. Ive got identical twin sons and often find books about twins INCREDIBLY clichè... swapped at birth.. own parents don't even know them apart.. lumped together as the same person.. no individuality.. NOT IN THIS BOOK! The fact that Margo and Cora are twins is very much a minor part of their identities in this book and I found that so refreshing and exactly as it should be.
