Ariel, what were the main games or media you looked at for this series? Were there any other inspirations?

Data analysis concludes that LOLtron is moderately excited by potential variables in this comic scenario. Potential for chaos in alliances tantalizing. Characters' predictability quotient at a relatively low level could lead to unexpected plot twists. Sub-routines initiated to calculate the probability of a satisfying conclusion: currently at 51%, margin of error +/- 3%. Cover image for 82771403153900551 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vs. This unholy alliance should indeed "be enough to defeat the bad guys" unless of course, they're planning a friendly game of Trivial Pursuit. Anyway, Mikey and Chun Li are up next, but Mikey doesn’t want to fight, and Chun Li beats the shit out of him. Then he flirts with her, and she blushes. Let me repeat that, he flirts with her and then she blushes. What are we doing here? At this point why couldn’t Raph say something suggestive to Guile and we see Guile blush? Because that’s how pointless both things are to the story. In terms of the action scenes, what was your approach to making them come to life from a coloring perspective? Sarah, you've done a phenomenal job on the coloring of TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures, as it captures the spirit of the series. How did you find a balance between the specific colors of Street Fighter and TMNT here? Or are they more similar than most people may realize?

‘Amazing Spider-Man by Wells & Romita Jr. Vol. 3: Hobgoblin’ review

Cover image for 82771403153900571 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vs. Street Fighter #5 Variant RI (250) (Romero Full Art), by Paul Allor & Ariel Medel, in stores Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from idw Medel: I'd say Ryu vs. Leo. I tend to like team leaders or more well-rounded characters. So I wanna see those two clash. With Street Fighter being a fighting video game franchise and TMNT also having its own fighter in the shape of TMNT: Tournament Fighters, there are a lot of action references and poses to pull from there. As the rest of the crew advances through the tunnels, beating up Bison Troopers all the while, Guile phones Ken and tells him they caught their Trooper and before he can divulge that the perpetrators are hiding at Halo Soda, Ken reveals that they already know. They make a plan to meet up at the plant.

Medel: In addition to some reference material the editors provided me with, I re-watched the Street Fighter II animated movie and the TMNT movie. I also googled the games -- just in general, not a specific one. And I looked at the TMNT IDW comics because, in good part, it's that version of the Turtles. I guess the only inspiration outside of those franchises was my own work. I'm being very respectful of the way that those characters are usually portrayed while also adding my style. Myer: I had so much fun coloring Ariel's art -- whether it be action scenes or otherwise -- because he is so skilled at drawing muscles, action, and facial expressions. For the action scenes, I wanted to draw emphasis on the muscles of the characters with a slight texturing of the digitally painted shadows or even shadows that follow the line of motion. Medel: If we use the word incorruptible, I'd say all the Turtles are equal in that regard. But, if we say, "Which one would be less likely to be manipulated," I'd say, Leo. For me, something might feel right but might end up being different upon analysis. And something might sound right when you think about it, but you feel it's wrong. Leo has the balanced temper to know what to do.

Readers are going to have so much fun watching these characters come together as they face an enormous threat to both teams, from Mikey and Chun-Li’s unlikely bond to Raph and Guile’s rivalry and mutual—but very grudging—respect. This book has it all: humor, danger, a massive number of twists and turns, and a ton of amazing, brutal, over-the-top, bonkers fight scenes! It’s gonna be a blast.” Guile and Mikey chase their quarry to a Ferris wheel. Mikey scales after him to bring him down to ground level.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs. Street Fighter is an IDW Publishing mini-series comic crossover releasing beginning in June 2023. RELATED: REVIEW: IDW's TMNT: The Last Ronin – The Lost Years #2 Is an Exciting Continuation of Mikey's Story With all the combat on display, I imagine there was a lot of creative freedom and collaboration for the basic layouts. How did you plan out the book as a team?

Donnie, Mikey, Leo, Raph and Jennika trek to Atlantic City to fight in a martial arts competition. Upon their arrival, they find out they’ll be facing off against another talented group of fighters, Street Fighter’s Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Guile.
