Hilariously, and to boost the displayability, there’s also a printed LEGO Jurassic plaque, as well as a printed tile with Ian Malcolm’s “Boy, do I hate being right all the time”. It made me so happy, recalling this scene from Jurassic Park, and if you’re a fan of the Steven Spielberg classic, I can absolutely guarantee that you’ll enjoy this build too.

There is authenticity and charm in the design of each of these minifigures, and they work both for younger fans wanting to play out the scene and for older fans wanting to give their display a real added sense of story and character. The curvature and silhouette also matches it, and in many ways, it’s a very impressive re-creation of an already established design archetype. On the bottom of the box, there’s a small blurb noting that this is a “Ford Official Licensed Product”, along with the Universal and studio logos. Our light kit features 18 individual LEDs. Including a pair of our Rotating Bit Lights and a pair of Flashing White Bit Lights, all action components to sound the alarm and take your LEGO display to the next cinematic level. If you’re a fan of LEGO Dinosaurs, or Jurassic Park this set is an absolute dream, so let’s jump into this early review of 76956 T.Rex Breakout!Although some aspects are apparently only coincidentally so, this does mirror the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection for such presentation and, as was the case with that trio of sets, it’s a simply-realised and smartly-presented concept that cleverly puts a different slant on the scene that you build out of LEGO –there’s something ever so slightly more artistic to presenting LEGO like this. For a 1,212-piece set, I really liked how fun and engaging the build was. Difficulty-wise, it wasn’t the most challenging build, and something that younger kids could easily put together. It’s not really intimidating and doesn’t really push the envelope, making it an approachable build especially for those new to LEGO. Another great bit of detail that anchors this set to the film are these large modules (complete with reference stills) featuring iconic quotes and references captured as you build the set. The final assembly for this set is the remains of Tour Vehicle 4. In the film, this car is savaged by the T-Rex, and the LEGO version has suffered a similar fate. It is built in three sections – with the front and rear ends inverted and attached to the main cabin via clips.

As an adult fan who primarily loves displaying sets, this Jurassic Park diorama is an absolute winner, and I cannot find much fault with it. Sure, I would’ve loved more printed elements, and it would’ve been such a killer move if LEGO chose this set to reintroduce the LEGO Goat, but at its core, this is an extremely satisfying set that will absolutely delight fans of the movie.Dr Alan Grant has a similar design to his past versions but has a rain-soaked shirt and muddy trousers. He can also swap out his famous hat for a hairpiece. Dr Ian Malcolm hasn’t got as dirty as the others but has a little bit of dampness on this slightly opened shirt. Unfortunately, the cowardly lawyer Gennaro hasn’t been included. This is the perfect set to have finally featured this fan-favourite character. A detail that is really only clearly visible at this stage are the T Rex’s rain filled footprints. The new 1×1 quarter circle tile in transparent light blue really work well here. It has right details, such as the number 4 on it, and with the right spare parts, you should be able to turn this into a proper Ford Explorer if you’d like. The eponymous dino is a good example of what makes this Lego T. rex Breakout set work so well; it’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into both its design and scale. As you’d expect, the tail section is full of multi-segmented parts, meaning you can pose it in a variety of interesting ways. And while it's a straightforward build, there’s clever stuff going on here; to be precise, it has some interesting SNOT (studs not on top) building. There are 4 minifigures included in the set – Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant, and the kids, Lex and Tim Murphy. The minifigures are highly detailed, and reflect their surroundings as they’re all either drenched by the rain, or covered in mud, which makes these standout from their previous variants.

The T. rex looks weird and there’s no getting away from that, and it is due to a design that is just crying out for a higher piece count to add in some bulk, some shaping and a lot more detail. As it stands (one leg on the crushed Explorer), it doesn’t quite belong in 76956 T. rex Breakout –it isn’t an entire disaster and from certain angles can be accepted by kinder eyes, but if you focus too much on it, it just zaps credibility from the entire set. Here’s a look at Ian Malcolm and Alan Grant, who are both extremely wet and drenched by the rain, evident by the water marks on their torsos, and faces. LEGO Jurassic Park fans are in for an absolute treat in 2022 – Target.com has revealed an upcoming Jurassic Park LEGO set – 76956 T. Rex Breakout – a small diorama and playset based on one of the most iconic scenes from the first Jurassic Park. Ready to direct the action? This LEGO® Jurassic Park T. rex Breakout build-and-display model (76956) is as worthy of repeat viewing as the epic Jurassic Park movie scene that inspired it. It features a posable T. rex figure stomping on a flipped, crushed Ford Explorer, a second Ford Explorer and a smashed ‘electric’ fence. Recreate the drama with Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, Tim Murphy and Lex Murphy minifigures, buildable night-vision goggles, a flare and 2 water glass elements, plus many other references to the famous scene. This is one of the best-designed LEGO instruction manuals yet, and I really love the lush greenery and Jurassic Park logo plastered out on the front.

And last but not least, here’s a look at the printed tiles, which has the LEGO Jurassic Park logos on one, as well as a quote from Ian Malcolm, which is a fantastic touch. Welcome to LEGO sets for adults – a zone of zen for hands-on DIY projects. From movie magic to the wonders of the world, pop culture icons and more, there is a LEGO set waiting for you.For aspects such as the two (or rather, one-and-a-half) Ford Explorers, that is very much true to say. We have been waiting a long time to build an official LEGO version of this vehicle and what is before us in 76956 T. rex Breakout does not disappoint. This is an absolute winner for me, and with Jurassic World Dominion hitting theatres soon, I for one am looking forward to the Jurassic Park/World resurgence! The set includes 4 minifigures – Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, and the kids Lex and Tim Murphy who are covered in mud.
