Description

Kim, the author, never formally requested anyone for English Translation. So when you pay the translators, nothing goes to the author.

Riftan arrived and amidst misunderstanding and confusion on both sides, took Max away, heading to his own castle. And oh boy, the misunderstanding kept piling up on top of each other. It didn't help either that both Max and Riftan never open up to each other; Max because of her stutter and low self-esteem and Riftan because of his headstrong character. I love Maxi. Watching her timidness melt away with Riftan's tender actions and passion has been rewarding. Knowing she had the inner strength to be more than an abuse survivor with a stutter. Witnessing her finding her true self is a great reward. There are so many things I want to say but my emotions are all over the place, and maybe my words wouldn’t be enough anyway, to praise this masterpiece. Oh and forewarning you will be left with a hot and heavy cliffhanger. So don't pull out all of your hair, you'll need it for the upcoming seasons.Under the Oak Tree, a romantic, historical and fantasy Korean light novel, is by far the most incredible read I did so far this year. Let's talk about why this novel is not a novel. I don't know who made it into a novel from the webtoon, but it didn't work out. Maybe problems with the translation are to blame as well, but the structure alone is just so bad. Well it took me a month to read it because I had to wait 24h to read the next chapter but without that I could’ve finish it in one sitting. Maxi continues to grow as she gets better and better at advocating for what she wants. Her path into magic is super interesting. Though I think her intense need to be useful as a source of value will fail her eventually. Was also pleasantly surprised to see some speech therapy components in this and the way it’s being handled is correct! Practice and repetition and other methods can work for those who stutter.

It’s an easy read, doesn’t have that much going on, you don’t have to put your mind into it and the drawings are absolutely GORGEOUS. What can possibly go wrong if we put together a traumatized female lead with an overbearing-self-conscious male lead that won't stop misunderstanding each other every time they interact with one another in the most ridiculous escenarios ever created by mankind?I’ve just finished book 1 and really am at a loss for words. In the past, every time I was asked “What’s your favourite book?“ I could never give an answer. I changed my mind or could never feel passionate enough to choose something, but in actuality, the answer wasn’t clear until I read THIS! Stuttering Maximilian Croyso spent a lifetime suffering the abuse of her cruel father, Duke Croyso. The Duke’s final act of cruelty? Marrying Maxi off to the war hero Riftan, legendary slayer of dragons. Now these two complete strangers have to try to make the arranged marriage that neither wanted work out. I really loved the Princess as a character too. I really thought she was gonna turn out to be a basic two-faced bitch who tries to steal the love interest from the main character, but I was so pleasantly surprised. She was a confident, strong-willed, and charming person. She had such great energy.
