Description

Typically, filter paper comes in either white or natural brown. Melitta also offers a paper filter made from bamboo, which is a naturally renewing resource. I started by blaming an unannounced change in the blend of coffee beans, but realised that the coffee was actually from the same can as before! So I continued by assuming that I had put in either too little coffee or too much milk and tried again. However, after 4 such experiments, I found that I needed to put in TWICE as much coffee to get even a remotely acceptable cup (still without the full flavour I appreciate and am accustomed to). Natural brown filters are not processed to achieve a whiter color. With premium filter paper, such as those by Melitta, there is no difference in taste from using white versus natural brown versus bamboo. The choice is only a matter of preference. If using a paper filter, we recommend Melitta Cone Filters which are the only filters that have patented flavor enhancing micro-perforations that provide a richer more flavorful coffee and are double crimped so they never burst.

The type and brand of coffee filter that you use can easily be as important to the end taste of your coffee as the coffeemaker or water that is used. While your coffeemaker may dictate the shape of filter that you need to use, there usually remain many options that you need to choose from that can influence the flavor of your coffee. Typically, basket filters fit all six to twelve cup basket style coffeemakers. There are also “Junior” size baskets which are available for four to six cup coffeemakers. Founded in the early 1900s after the invention of the very first documented paper coffee filter, Melitta owes its name to the clever German housewife, Melitta Bentz, who made perforations in a metal cup and lined it with some of her son’s blotting paper to create the earliest known filter coffee. This simple innovation made it easier for thousands of people to make delicious coffee without the risk of bitter grounds getting into their cups and the company have gone from strength to strength in the century that’s passed since her coffee-making ingenuity was first put to the test.

Timer Function

Finer grind coffees have a larger surface area exposed to the water so it provides a richer cup of coffee. Some permanent filters also transfer foreign taste and odor to your coffee. Filter coffee machines are the classic way to create great tasting clean and crisp coffee. These machines heat up water to the right temperature then slowly pass this water through the coffee grounds and into the jug to create a delicious brew. These filters are a standard size that fit most filter coffee machines no matter what brand, and they’re ideal for any 8-10 cup filter coffee jug.

Developed specifically for coffee filters, Aromapor paper is micro-perforated to ensure only the finest coffee flavours make it into your jug or cup to release the fullest flavour. Yet it’s tear-resistant and strong enough to ensure it won’t disintegrate while you’re pouring hot water over your chosen coffee grounds, and the deep seams are firmly crimped so they’ll stay in shape – even on the way to the compost caddy after your coffee’s been enjoyed – but there’s no need for glue of any kind. It should be noted that not all paper filter performs the same. Avoid cheap filters! Cheaper paper filters can impact the taste of your coffee by either transferring foreign flavors and/or via over extraction or under extraction. Other disadvantages of cheap paper are they can easily result in a mess by either bursting or clogging. I imagine that this new filter is designed to work with a full pot of coffee (but cannot comment on that); however, we use the machine to make 1-3 cups at a time and we are simply not going to be able to use these filters at all - it would cost us twice as much in coffee and we would still not be satisfied! Easy Clean-Up -- Once used, paper filters are easily removed from the coffee maker and then disposed. Permanent filters must be thoroughly washed out after each use.

Jug type

Preference of coffee strength varies between our customers and their households, to ensure we meet all of your needs many of our filter coffee machines include adjustable coffee strength. You can easily switch between mild, medium, and strong, when you want a more or less intense coffee experience. Each coffee strength setting creates a clean, crisp, delicious tasting filter coffee moment. Integrated Grinder Melitta coffee filters are quite different from other brands, patented with three grades of paper in every filter and extra perforations in the higher levels; this creates three distinct aroma zones with advanced multi-layer filtration to get the best results from whatever grounds you are using:

The type of coffee filter that you use can easily be as important to the end taste of your coffee as the coffeemaker or water that is used. There are many factors that need to be considered when choosing a coffee filter. Cone filters come in sizes designated by a number. These numbers correspond to the following types of coffeemakers: #1 Size Filter: Fits 1 cup electric cone coffeemakers #2 Size Filter: Fits 2 to 6 cup electric and 1 cup pour-over cone coffeemakers #4 Size Filter: Fits 8 to 12 cup cone coffeemakers #6 Size Filter: Fits 10 cup pour-over cone coffeemakers To brew the most flavorful cup of coffee, it is recommended that paper filters be used. Paper filters effectively trap bitter sediments for a smoother less bitter cup of coffee. Paper filters also allow you to use any type of grind while permanent filters require coarser grinds. Other benefits of paper filters versus permanent filters include easier clean-up, more sanitary, and more environmentally friendly. In addition, studies have indicated that paper filters play a crucial role in eliminating cholesterol-raising factors from coffee. Many of our larger filter coffee machines have the function to brew smaller amounts of coffee, 2-5 cups, whilst maintaining the great taste of a full batch. This feature is called AromaControl and only uses half the power to create the same full flavoured perfectly brewed coffee. This function is great for households with varying coffee needs.REFINING – slightly thinner and with more perforations, this band allows an even and consistent brew time as the coffee develops its flavour. To keep your coffee tasting flawless, regular cleaning and descaling is essential. Many of our filter coffee machines have descaling displays and descaling programmes. These alert you when you need to carry out a descale of the machine. By regularly descaling your filter coffee machine you can prolong its life and ensure the perfect tasting brew every time.
