Description

You’ve almost certainly heard of the Henry vacuum– now meet his bigger brother Charles. The Numatic Charles vacuum is an excellent all-round model with powerful suction, 9 litre wet capacity, a cleaning range of nearly 27 metres (which is much larger than the Karcher WD3 P) and large filters. Features of the Draper 13785 include a large 20 litre stainless steel tank, a 1.5 metre hose with air control system, powerful 1250W motor and three extension tubes. The model also comes with a floor brush, foam and cloth filters, carpet attachment and Draper’s standard guarantee.

Of course Charles also comes complete with a crevice tool, that is great for cleaning those hard-to-reach surfaces. Although due to the size of his hose you may not need to use this attachment as much as you normally would. While the traditional Henry has an A class energy efficiency rating, other models don’t match it. The worst is actually the Harry, which has a C class energy efficiency rating. It is important because a higher consumption vacuum cleaner will use more, costing you more in power. They aren’t as environmentally friendly either, so if being E-friendly is important to you the basic Henry is the better model. Size & Shape Replace filters as needed. Again, refer to your owners manual about the frequency necessary to replace them.

Charles also comes with a wet floor tool. This is ideal for cleaning up spillages on hard floors, or indeed drying them out. I have seen these being used in work places such as car garages. Cleaning up wet slippy floors to avoid hazards. Great for washing the carpets in around your home. George is also a particular favourite within the car cleaning industry for deep cleaning car interiors. Have Questions about Henry, Hetty, Charles, George – or any other vacuums? We may already have the answer… What’s the best Henry for my small home or outhouse? Before you start looking for a wet vacuum cleaner, you need to think about your requirements. Do you just need a home appliance that can handle the occasional spilled drink? Or do you want an industrial strength machine with a large capacity? The best wet vacuum for you depends largely on what you need it to do.

But you get left with more money at the end, and considering the low price, this still does a pretty good job. A downside to the large dust capacity is that the Charles is a relatively heavy and bulky vacuum cleaner. However, we think this is an acceptable trade-off, as wet and dry vacuums are typically used for bigger jobs. Ease of Use Some also have a reverse mode which can be used for blowing. This is useful for moving debris into a smaller location for easier cleaning, or just to clear the hose. If you’re after a wet dry vacuum, Charles Hoover is definitely a decent option. Excellent at cleaning both wet and dry surfaces and with a large cleaning capacity for both, Charles certainly won’t let you down. He’s also lighter than many wet and dry vacuums on the market, although due to his size he is rather bulky and not the easiest to store away in your home.Henry have a vacuum cleaner for everyone! You need the Henry Micro. This nifty little number uses a MicroTex Filtration System to ensure that even the smallest particles are whipped out of the fibres of your flooring. I want a Henry vacuum that does everything… is there one? Charles is designed to shine in the wet – and this is indeed where it has the edge over the competition. Having a vacuum which can clean up spillages is a major bonus. If you’ve ever had a big spill in your home or even had a problem with the plumbing you know exactly how difficult it can be to clean it up. Not with a Charles in the house. Because they have such heavy-duty capabilities, they are often overlooked when buying a vacuum for home use. But, after reading this article, I believe you will find that there are many good reasons to keep a wet-dry vacuum for home in your cleaning arsenal. How Does a Wet Dry Vacuum Work? Interestingly there once was a model called “William” who was a lower cost version of Charles. Not many were made. It’s not a flashy vacuum and it doesn’t come with many advanced features. Instead, it shines because of its simplicity and powerful suction. As you would expect from the company behind the famous Henry range, the Charles is also durable and easy to use.

Cord Length. Longer cords are much more convenient when cleaning large areas and have few downsides. Even so, there’s a lot of variation in suction power between wet and dry machines. A higher power usage also doesn’t always equal better suction, although the two are closely linked. The dust capacity of the Numatic Charles depends on the type of cleaning. For dry cleaning, it has a large 15 litre capacity (which is considerably larger than the 9 litre capacity of the Henry). When in wet clean mode, the capacity is reduced to 9 litres – which is still relatively spacious. There are different aspects of Henry vacuums that come with a class rating. Energy Efficiency is one, suction another. There may be more. As a general rule, Class A is the best you can buy. A Traditional Henry has an Energy Class A rating, for example. Other Considerations to Make Before Buying a Henry Vacuum CleanerThe Henry vacuum cleaner range covers a number of price points. The more expensive models, like the George, do more things than the models that don’t cost as much. Adversely, the cheapest Henry Vacuum is likely to be the original version. You would think that you paid less for less dustbin capacity (like what you get with the James, where you sacrifice dustbin space for storage) but this isn’t the case. What is a Class Rating? All in all, I would consider this a handy, compact wet and dry vacuum that can also be used to clean up after pets.

This motor provides excellent suction power down the hose due to its 1000W power. This is higher than dry-only upright and cylinder vacuums, which are limited to 900W maximum. Another great wet and dry vacuum for pets is the DeWalt wet dry vac. It isn’t as specialized as the Draper for pet hair and mess cleanup, but it can handle the job. While we don’t think you can go far wrong with any of the models listed above (as long as you research each model’s features compared to your requirements), we always recommend understanding what affects the performance of a vacuum before you buy. In this section, we’ll talk you through the primary considerations when choosing a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. You may also want to read our guide to what is a wet and dry vacuum. Your Requirements and BudgetWeight. The weight of a vacuum is often overlooked. Don’t make this mistake though – a heavy vacuum can turn cleaning into a workout rather than saving you time. The Harry is the best in the range for cleaning up pet hair. It comes with a special brush attachment meant to lift hair and an activated charcoal filter which will draw out dirt and neutralize foul smelling pet pongs. Where do Henry Vacuums come from? Overall, good suction power and a large canister make this an excellent cleaning solution for your home DIY projects. Related Reading It’s even quieter than most vacuums. You won’t feel like you are in a workshop with a roaring vacuum since it is only a 72dB vacuum. The Draper 13785 is one of the best wet vacuum cleaners for home use. Whether you need to clean your garage, shed or workshop, the Draper is robust enough to handle almost anything you can throw at it.
